Advice on Laser Printers
Comments (3)OKI Electric developed its LED printhead technology for electro-photographic printing for reliable printing in various applications. Laser systems rely on elaborate combinations of rotating mirrors and lenses that must remain in alignment through use. The laser scans from one end of a line to another, then zig-zags down to the next line. LED technology uses a Light Emitting Diode printhead as a light source within the imaging device. Unlike laser systems, the LED printhead is solid-state and has no moving parts. The LED bar pulse-flashes across the entire page width and creates the image on the print drum as it moves down. OKI also has a straight-line paper path that's less susceptible to jams when feeding heavy stock, envelopes or labels. LED technology is the future. We're so sure of this that we guarantee the printhead of every OKI page printer for five full years  by far the longest warranty in the industry! That's the difference, that's a very good printer you have there print quality and reliability and can be used in a work group more then 1 person using it so it is built to last. Did you like the printer when it worked if so fix it and it will probably out last the the ones you listed.. Lets see what others say, I currently use a brother all in one model MFC 7420 and happy with it. Tech Infomation copied from oki web site, found by Googling "led laser"...See MoreA Special Meal For Special People :-)
Comments (32)Brad I also think that canned beans are already cooked and don't need another hour of cooking, and I like beans cooked VERY ell done. Elery says one thing he'll never hear me say is "I think you cooked those beans too long", LOL. That said, I just chop up a few slices of bacon, I shoot for 6 or 8 but use what I have on hand. Dice them up, toss them in a pan, cook until crisp. Open a couple of quarts of home canned beans, you could use maybe 4 regular cans of store-bought instead. Drain off the liquid, dump into the hot bacon grease/bacon, stir. Just cook until the beans are hot all the way through. If you want to get really fancy, sprinkle some chopped or slivered almonds over top. The grandkids love green beans this way. So do most of the adults, green vegetables are always better with bacon. I agree with cynic, don't leave the guys out, some of them might really like to cook. Unless, of course, you want all the girls to yourself. (grin) Annie...See MoreNeed Advice for my Bernina 730!
Comments (8)What you should do? This is what I personally would do, clean the machine (did you get the manual it would tell you what to do for that)....change needles, give it a good going over......make sure the feed dogs aren't sticking, that kind of thing. Take a look at your foot pedal, clean it up (might even carefully unscrew the thing and see if any wires are showing signs of wear that kind of thing)..... If you still have problems, call or visit your local library and ask them for a book on sewing machine maintenance...even if you have to order one in, then go through that and see if they offer any solutions. Go onto some other sewing forums on the web .... a few addy's have been mentioned in older postings here and see what they have to say. Find a Bernina website where you can ask fellow bernina owners... If you are really looking to spend little cash, call around to other sewing machine places and ask if they have any foot pedals that would fit your machine and the cost. If they have something, then take your machine and try it in the store. Some places take machines on trade in and junk them for parts..that might be an option. A bit of time calling sewing machine places in your area and you might find something reasonable. You asked what I would do.....the steps I listed are what I would do before rushing out and spending big bucks. Yes a servicing would help but compare costs with other dealers who service machines (just cause they sell Singer doesn't mean they only service singer) someone might have a cheaper price for you. You ask what to do and this is what I would try (all of the above) before spending more money that you might not have to. MHO only. Budster....See MoreLooking for machine advice
Comments (6)I worked for sewing machine mechanic and did some of the tuneups and want to say that you have to get an sewing machine about the age that you are sewing on ( your Mom's) The E-Bay has a Singer Stylist, Necchi ($49.) and a very nice Sears Kenmore 1757. The Kenmore has alot of the necessary cams for decorative sewing. The new machines are not going to do the several thickness of denium. The are not engineered to do heavy work. Just the lightweight and medium weight sewing. (hemming a mens denium jean is heavy duty ) If you are going to do the handbags you may want to look at an industrial machine. Those are selling cheap now as the factories that were using them have gone over to China, India, etc. It is a worthwhile investment. I own three Ind. myself. One is a Pfaff Zig Zag. I paid $35. for the "head." It will sew heavy canvas, boat tops, etc. These older machines, like the one you are sewing on , now are selling for more that it orginally sold for at the dealerships in the U.S.!!...See Moreshadylady2u
