Sage, grayed or even apple-type greens work wonderfully with a blue toile. Adding a green might be a nice way to round out the butter/blue color scheme.

I've nothing against barely there colors..they're colors just the same:) I just felt, from what you've posted, your DH wants something that spells " color" to him personally..and I thought "well why not to go all the way then". Men sometimes chicken out of something that's a bit unusual to them..we do too, but less so. I lost the guest room of my dreams, that I planned down to the very last throw pillow, because my DH suddenly got all "it will be too dark! it will be too dark!" so now instead of yummy milk chocolate room I have..well..let's say a meringue:) That's how much he diluted the color. Needless to say it throws everything I've planned to the garbage bin. I need to rethink the curtains, the art, everything. Well..at least it's just one room. By the way we have some green..muted, darkish green, a bit khaki green in the laundry area, and he convinces me it's purple..:) LOL I think it's like an equation with several unknowns. We don't know why your DH obviously craves bolder color but only in certain spots. For example. My guess-maybe he really likes it but is afraid to overdo it? It's not so much the right shade of a right color dilemma, these are inevitable whenever you decide to paint something lol..takes thought, time, samples, etc. This is more "why do you want what you want?" question. You might know his "why". I don't. But the answer to "why" can be really helpful. When you understand where a person is coming from-you have different type of conversation.

By any chance, do you have any photos of your space? That might help a little bit. Have you looked at gray blues like Mt Saint Anne? For trim, I would consider glacial till or jute.

In our home, the Wedgewood Gray starts off blue in the morning and then goes blue green as the room gets more light. @Karolina De Costa, I actually did a small sample of Ewing Blue, but I was worried it might be a bit bright? In the family room, the sample I did looks similar (though brighter) than the Gray Cashmere we have in the MBR, which looks like a pale green-blue or blue-green color in the light in that room. I was going to switch out what's in the master and put Gray Cashmere in the main living areas, but it looks a lot grayer in the family room than it does in the master, on the sample at least. For whatever reason, everything in this pic looks a lot grayer than it does IRL - BM Ewing Blue looks brighter in person.
