using essential oil or fragrance oil

I'm wanting to purchase one or the other to use instead of perfume say to put on my wrist. Which do I buy? Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm thinking if I get essential oil I can use it also like in the bath water or to mix with bath salts? Maybe it doesn't matter which one I buy?

Either one, but both will have to be "cut" in a carrier oil to be put on your body.
Jojoba, Rice Bran, Soy, Sweet Almond..to name a few.
And either(EO or FO) needs to be skin safe..and some may even say to only use at certain percentages.

I have to mix them with oil? Anything else besides oil? I don't know if I want oil all on my arm...so what is the base of department store perfumes(or eau de toilette)? What could I use to make it more like that? Is it just alcohol? Like say what if I wanted to make a "toilet water" like they used to call it? How would you make that?

Ive ingested tea tre oil before. I believe its safe as long as its deluted and as long as you are using a high grade oil. I wouldn't use a cheap unknown brand or anything sold at Dollar Tree or Walmart, places like that. I've poured Melaleuca oil down my throat before and although it burned, it never gave me any other side effects that they list. However, use at your own discretion. I use a lot of alternative healing remedies and I am healthy and only take one prescription for asthma. I have deluted it tea as well. The Aborigines have been using it for centuries. I used to have ants invading a house in California. I traced them out through the wall, up the fence, along the fence to the back fence, and they disappeared down the length of my neighbor's fence. I never did find where their mound was. I got rid of them completely with a mix of molasses, sugar, and yeast. I mixed 1/2 cup of molasses and 1/2 cup of sugar with a teaspoon of yeast. What a mess. I prepared "patches" of goo on cardboard and placed them in the middle of the fence run on my fence. For a few days they ignored it. Then they discovered it and cleaned the plate. They ate every bit of the stuff. I started to notice fewer and fewer ants. There were still enough to clean one more helping (about a tablespoon) before they disappeared. I put more out and never saw another ant. Knowing what I think I know now, I would speculate that the ants took the yeast home where the yeast "infected" their other food supply, and they died from not getting enough food to eat. Or the food may have become poisonous to them. I will NOT speculate that they ate the yeast and blew up. I believe that to be a myth. This formula only works for ants normally attracted to sugar. Many ants are not. For those I have had mixed success mixing ordinary corn meal with boric acid. Usually just dusting some boric acid in the ant trail works as good as anything else.

You will find a lot of recipes here, but you have to register to be able to read the forum. Most of the people who post here use Essential Oils; I use fragrance oils. My personal dislike of artificially added scents to an indoor space aside, remember that medical advice comes from medical doctors and other qualified personnel. Not from the labels of products or the words of people who sell or advocate them. And that for many people who suffer from allergies, the trigger is different kinds of plant material. There's nothing guaranteeing a substance to be not noxious but rather only "wholesome and pleasant" simply because something is from plants. Real perfume has substantial flower and plant based ingredients. It's all well and good, but if someone wearing too much (which is common) gets on to an elevator with me or sits nearby in a restaurant, it's all I can do to continue breathing. Many public places in my area, especially medical offices, have signs declaring visitors to respect their wishes to remain "Scent free".

I make solid perfumes..
It's a little oil, beeswax and skin loving butters (usually Aloe) scent and use that.

hey!im just starting to make scent tins and i love the the smell of plumeria and gardenia and jasmine but when i ordered those fragrance oils they smell horrible! i put them in my product and its awful,it smells nothing like the plumeria,gardenia or jasmine ive ever smelled!is there something im supposed to add?or am i doing something wrong?

Well unfortunately with florals..you'll get quite a variety of interpretations of the scent.

I personally like a Plumeria that I think is actually a Dupe of Bath and Body Works.
Which is a blend of things, not just the "scent" of the flower.
However if you are looking for a "truer" plumeria, you might want to look for a scent listed under Frangapini.
Again I think almost all fragrance oils that are florals are blends, not "true" single "note" scents.
Check out Oregon Trail Soaps..I'm pretty sure that Susan and Juan have devised some spot on florals though.

Hello,

I have had good luck with Plumeria from Brambleberry.

Be careful with all scents, whether EO or FO, especially if using on skin.

For example, I would use far less cinnamon (can you say ouch!) in bath water as opposed to lavender; measure by the drop in your bath water rather than by a portion of an ounce.

Thanks for the advice! I actually found this place called tonys fragrances and oh man! they are so great! better than anywhere ive tried so far, but they are a little higher
