Am using these essential oils for scar

Hi, this is my first post, i've been using this website for years and just discovered this forum, which i'm quite happy about!

Last year my daughter received a 2nd degree burn which is now a large, raised scar on her abdomen. A skin graft was suggested at the time but since I had no guarantee it would take and the fact she had suffered enough, I declined. She was 3 at the time and I'm hoping time is on my side to try and diminish it. I have used Vitamin E oil, aloe vera and a silicone patch. I have also been giving her a dose of liquid Vitamin C in aid healing. I have turned to essential oils and feel hopeful that it will produce some results. Here's my current "mixture": a base of macadamia oil ( i read was good for healing & on children's skin. It absorbs nicely too) with:

lavendar

Geranium Egyptian

Helichrysum African

Frankincense

I was thinking i should add:

Carrotseed

Galbanum

Mandarin

Palmarosa

Yarrow

Any suggestions? Or comments on my selections? Sorry for the long email.

Did you use the aloe when the scar was forming? That's Aloe's main function, to help healing and preventing of scar tissue during formation. I am a person who forms keloid scars, so I am rather hopeless about it. My sister sat on a heater at that age and burned her fanny, and the scars lasted 10 years...then *poof*... but then I have seen a friends scars from when she was 4. I think your idea was best, I think scarring is better than skin grafting which kind of creeps me out. Then, she'd have 2 scars. I'd keep up what you are doing. I looked everything up, looks like a good combo. Also, you might try rice bran oil... it has natural sunscreen properties, and you want to keep the sun off it for a couple of years, or it will turn dark and never match with the other skin.

Hi, While the scar was forming I was using a prescription cream ( i think had silver in it?) because of infection. Once the wound was not open anymore, I started on the aloe, silicon strip and now the essential oils. Should I keep my current formula or add the others too? And yes you're right, he told me she would have two scars, the other being on her leg. Hopefully she'll keep her lower abdomen covered :) but I don't think when she's older, that a leg scar would be appreciated as well.

First of all Colliodial, Nano, Hydrosolized, and Ionic silver, are different due to the particulate size, process used, and therefore treatment. Plus usually a formula of activated charcoal and several other ingredients is the appropriate remedy for the early stages of gangrene. At least not for topical application as we're discussing here. There must be some amount of evidence proving silver's ability to heal, considering it's often used in mainstream medicine for burn patients where major treatment is needed. Whether or not you believe these- or any remedies without research, is up to you. Unfortunately, it's next to impossible to prove these things in a fashion that's more than anecdotal. I believe many skeptics like you are very aware of the fact that since there is very little demand for studies on many alternative cures(due to most people going with mainstream medicine), you can use such an argument to your advantage within these conversations, because you know full well the request cannot be met. It's a wonder you claim to understand the many clinical research papers you quote though, when you're so averse to perfectly appropriate medical terms and simply call them buzzwords. I guess it's good that people here stick only to already proven cures for things instead of trying to improve on them, otherwise things would fall apart with that attitude.

I just noted that I wrote I wasnt putting a essential oil recipe in there for cleaning wooden floors, but there is one in there. Note though, that I havent ever used that recipe as I dont have wood floors, so I cant 100% say it wont take the shine off. If you want to try it, just do a test spot in a hidden area. Also, I dont know if I can give people my e-mail address if they want a printable version of this? Or my environmental group on myspace? Can I? Will someone please tell me so that I can put this info down if someone wants me to send them out a printable copy? Oh, and sorry it took me so long to get this up online sylviatexas! Thanks, sammie

Great tip -- will give it a try. I have some freesia oil in the house. I've found I can get a similar effect using Caldrea laundry liquid. It isn't super concentrated, a small amount does a good job of washing, and it both deodorizes and leaves a slight fragrance. They have lavender. I also like their Sweet Pea (though they market it for nursery) and Sea Salt Neroli. Currently I'm using the Palmarosa and Wild Mint. Their linen spray with the same fragrance makes bed sheets smell heavenly, too. Mrs. Meyer's is the sister brand.

Allison, my D levels are good so I don't think I want to take that. I have been advised not to take echinacea because of allergies. I rarely get sick as it is, but I always think about flu season, etc. Yes, Thieves is one I have heard about. YL is the brand the acquaintance uses and I must say her family of 4 (2 young sons) seem extremely healthy. I will look at the other brands you listed. I'm really only interested in diffusing - I especially thought of it during flu/cold season on days I work! Too many people come in when they should take a sick day. Is there a certain brand you like Allison? Kswl, I'm sorry you deal with nausea daily. I had a bout a couple of years ago with some stomach ulcerations and ginger tea really helped. But I'm with you on the Zofran. I had never had it until a few months ago after my colonoscopy. I woke feeling a tiny bit nauseated and the doc gave me Zofran. I told him I didn't want something that made me sleepy/groggy - and it didn't.

I think the best thing you can do for her is to teach her to have confidence in herself... that the scar doesn't change that she's a beautiful person. Surface beauty that can be marred by a scar is not true beauty. Beauty fades and personality is with you for life. If she lets that scar ruin her life... what a loss!

sorry, don't misunderstand me when i say keep herself covered..i meant it as a joke that as parents we don't want her (as a teenager) showing skin, ie crop tops & low rise jeans, because she'll always will be our little girl. If her personality now at 4 is any indication, she'll have confidence plenty! She doesn't really notice it anymore, it's just that as a mother i want to do all i can to help heal her best i can. But thanks for the kind words.
