Kim, are these the ones you use? I keep mine next to my computer so that while I'm online I can make more--that doesn't mean I'm good about actually taking them outside and putting them on the roses!;) I get these at a local nursery, Mt. Fuji, in Upland, CA. On mine I write the name, class, date and name of breeder (plus country), and where and when I acquired the plant. For example for Europa's Rosengarten the label shows Europa's Rosengarten Floribunda 1989, Karl Hetzel (Germany) Eurodesert Roses, CA, 2011 Here are some plant markers/signs used by Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden in Claremont, CA. Btw I asked about the markers, and they told me that they try to always put the ones with the accession number on the south side of the plant. So if you really want to know what it is, search for that marker (sometimes 2 different kinds are used--one in the ground the other wired on the plant). The signs are more prominent and contain more info. The last 2 above were on the same plant of R. minutifolia. What I like about what they are using is the heaviness of the wire gauge. I'm looking to find a wire that is a bit more substantial than what came with the Cole's (very fine--sharp looking too for rose canes!) and yet is still flexible and easy to work with and will fit through the pre-punched holes. lucille- You are correct that there is no uniform federal law governing what individuals may do regarding lead removal on their own homes. However -- similar to the example that worthy provided above -- there are many, many state and local environmental authorities that restrict lead paint removal by untrained/uncertified individuals, especially when it involves home exteriors, since it can involuntarily expose others than just the homeowner's family, and because it can directly contaminate the environment. Even if a municipal area does not have explicit lead regulations, this type of problem can often be addressed through existing hazardous waste regulations.

Ann, try saving it to your Clippings. Look to the right of your last post (just above this). You will see the word Clippings in green letters. Under that it will say Clip This Post. For each recipe or comment you want to save, click on Clip This Post. Another way to do it is to highlight the entire thread, or the parts you want, right click with your mouse and then click on Copy. Start a new document in Word and paste the thread into that document, then save it to your computer. If you want me to do that for you and then email it to you, let me know.

No idea yet whats under the carpet. Since it was lived in by university students for about 4 years, and then a family for a few years after that.. part of the carpet was "renters" carpet.. high traffic and cheap. Its every homeowners dream to pull it up and see wood floors that can be saved.. but I'm not holding my breath haha. I'm already looking painting color options, but this wood is being difficult. I'm likely to paint the walls 1st before trying something as huge as staining all the woodwork. I'm just going over all my options. Grey/greige is on the top of my list so far... my husband is very anti-yellow, but could maybe be talked into sage green.
