Bathroom exhaust fan with heater

I need to replace the exhaust fan in my bathroom, and I'm thinking about getting one with a heater included. My question is, how does the heater work? Does it blow out heated air, or does it have a heat light, or what? If it blows hot air, can it be run at the same time as the vent (I mean, it seems kind of counterproductive to be blowing & sucking at the same time)?

I've looked at a few models on line, but they don't really go into any details; they just say that the unit is a vent + heater. I live way out in the boonies, and to get to a store which carries them to see for myself requires an hour's drive, so that's why I thought I'd ask here first.

TIA
