A little OT, but I bought a soy candle while on vacation last year - by Swan Creek Candle. The fragrance is Sandalwood Vanilla, and it is wonderful. Don't let the vanilla throw you, it smells nothing like vanilla. The best part is it smells great even when unlit. I put it in the foyer and everyone comments on it when they enter our home. In fact, I just placed an order yesterday for my sister, mom and I. Also, for a much cheaper price, the Glade Puffer does a really good job. Just hard as heck to find the refills. I bought some reed diffusers from Pier One and the fragrance did not last long at all. Maybe mine was an old batch (they were on sale.)

A similar thing we have right now, which is giving me NO END of joy, is branches (thing - is; branches - are -- whichever one you want) of an Italian plum tree that I pruned off because they got over our blueberries (neighbor's tree). The branches were in bud when I brought them in an d put them in water, but now they've opened and have those gorgeous, sweet-smelling plum blossoms against bear branches, coming out at gorgeous skew curves from a tall narrow vase (filled with water and indoor-plant fertilizer). I'm in living-bouquet heaven! It changes every day as more and more flowers and hints of leaves come out. It's a bit sad because they won't ever bear fruit, but it's better than having just thrown them on the compost heap. It's going to be a February tradition from now on : )

Thanks for the responses. I agree about it being an accident waiting to happen. I will never use it again. I have some unopened that were gifts - two more. I will return them to the stores and if I can't do that, I will regift them or donate them to Good Will. I had not thought of trying to soak up the oil. I will definitely try that. If it does not work, I may go ahead and spill the remainder of the oil on the rest of the table top so at least it will all match. I guess worst case scenario is I would have to sand and restain it. However, it has this really cool darkened finish around the edges of the little round table that I don't think I could duplicate. I will let you know how it turns out. And no, I really don't like doilies!

I was just at Pier 1 this weekend buying reed diffusers. I know they did not have High Sierra. I assume you have been checking eBay? There are lots listed but no High Sierra. Someone on CL is looking for Pier 1 New Sierra too. It must have been a great scent. Have you contacted corporate headquarters? Sometimes they hang onto some items for when people who loved the product call. I got a discontinued liquid blush one time that way one time. I searched for a discontinued soap on eBay once and got it there.
