Need help with Nursery Color

I apologize for forgetting how to copy photos to this site. My daughter just had our first grandchild, A baby girl. Her furniture is Bassett, see link. It's sort of a taupe color. http://www.bassettfurniture.com/images/catalog/ProductZoom/5215-0521A_248.JPG
Her bedding is below: jewel tones in turquoise, deep pink, etc

My daughter just bought a condo and is trying to figure paint colors. She dislikes pastel colors so what would you paint the nursery. She feels like the furniture needs a deeper color to stand out.

I'm at work away from my beloved fan decks right now. In some ways it almost looks like it has a green tint to it and in others grey. And others very much beige. Maybe a griege color? If you could let us know who the poster is on the gallery forum we might be able to help figure out the color. BTW - thanks for posting the link. I'm going to have to try that alphabet in DD's nursery.

My daughter wanted her room painted pink when she was 5, so I picked a color from the Pottery Barn catalog (BM Sweet Taffy). It's bright but we really like it. I believe in the bold, contrasting color for stimulating the babies eyes and brain activity.... I used a bold Disney Towel to place on the ceiling above the crib. It was a bold Mickey Mouse on a huge beach towel with red and black as background color on towel. When my son laid in crib the contrasting colors of towel kept him busy. He's now 22 years old. Been a straight A student thru high school and is a junior at University of Cincinnati majoring in engineering. Just adding lil more info.

With all that gray I think the room looks a bit sad. It may be fine as the on-trend color in an adult world, but children respond to strong, vibrant colors. Montessori schools recommend painting the walls in children's classrooms and private rooms at home in a strong wheat color, a tone that is warm and cozy. Add some natural wood furniture, some painted furniture, and use mostly primary colors with some warm neutrals for most everything else. The rug looks good for playing with cars!

Take the bedding to the paint store, find a paint strip in the same color family as one of the colors in the bedding, turquoise, e.g.

Go down to at least the third shade down on the strip (50-55 LRV), maybe the fourth shade, but I wouldn't go darker than that for a nursery.

Going down to at least the third darkest shade on the strip will eliminate the pastels.
