Congratulations on your first grandchild! It sounds like you have some great ideas already from everyone on here. If I may add one thought regarding changing tables...we had one (b/c it was given to us). We rarely used it, even with our first baby. There's something more challenging about changing a baby when you are attempting to do so from the side. Our changing table had shelves. Our little boy loved to take everything off of the shelves every chance he got, as soon as he could sit up, so after the first few times of refolding clothing and putting diapers back on the shelves, we stopped using it for storage. Then he thought it would be a fun thing to try to climb up, as soon as he could pull himself to a stand. It may just depend upon the child, but that experience was enough to get rid of the changing table by the time our second child arrived. :) My parents had a convertable crib for our kids at their home. The type that turns into a toddler bed, and then can be a headboard for a regular bed as they get older. This can be quite a money saver for down the road. Just be careful with any crib you may purchase right now, as many have been recalled...so beware if you are buying one from CL, etc...just check to be sure it's not on the recall list (which seems to be growing by the month). This may sound strange, but have you considered any grays? When we moved into our house, two rooms on the second floor were painted gray--one a very crisp pale gray, and the other a little more taupe-y gray. I assumed we'd dislike the gray and paint over it...but my (now) 5-yr-old son has the crisp gray room, and our playroom is in the taupe-gray room. Gray seems to really bring out primary-little kid colors. And gray is great because your child won't outgrow it quickly, and you can change the color scheme easily. My ds's room has a blue-red scheme with a little lime green accent, and the playroom has blue and green furniture/storage, with a bright multicolored rug. These are my favorite rooms in the house. Sorry I don't have a specific gray to recommend, since the rooms were already painted when we moved in. Having said that, I will also say that we have a bathroom that is Polar Sky, and it's a very nice color, very clean and cheerful, with no odd undertones. I think it would be a nice color for a toddler's room.

Typed out a long post yesterday and then lost it! Ugh! Anyway, to summarize: 1. Consider getting neutral bedding and adding in your jungle theme with accessories like just the pillows and removable decal. That way, if your son just LOVES something else down the road, you can easily change it with the pillows and other minor accessories. 2. Your son's bed looks a little high-- though I have short kids, so maybe not for him. There are really cute stepstools with a jungle theme-- some are mass produced (check Target and Amazon) but you can also find them on Etsy. 3. Since you are open to removing the TV, I'd say not to put art supplies in there since I find bedrooms not to be the best place for that with young kids. (Depends on your child, though.) You could have baskets of books and open-ended toys. A radio/CD player is always nice, too. Could be a fun dance space! 4. I'd either lower the white shelves if they are for your son-- they do not look to be at a child's eye level, OR keep them up high but use them for breakable items. It's a good idea to literally get down at his level and see how accessible things are, what his view is, etc. Hang things for HIM, not for adults. VERY cute room!
