kenmore 12511 machine woth cleaning and keeping?
Comments (6)I have one of the older kenmore machines and it has been a wonderful machine. I still use it. I took it in to be cleaned and the guy told me to never get rid of it. It is mostly all metal unlike the ones today. My hubby bought it for me 30 some years ago for Christmas. The last time I took it in all it needed was to be oiled. When our daughter graduated from college 25 years ago she wanted a sewing machine, too. A friend was selling her old Kenmore. We bought it for $50.00. She is still using it..it ha been a great machine. Hope your daughter enjoys sewing. There is so much out there....See MoreNeed help finding vintage part for Kenmore sewing machine
Comments (6)Did you get the bobbin case squared away? That's a class 15 bobbin and bobbin case. I think the "finger" position may be either an 11 O'Clock or 1 O'Clock. I believe I have an Ultra Stitch 12. It's a nice machine. Let me know if you need help. Happy stitching!...See MoreGetting a new sewing machine
Comments (9)Wish I lived next door to Raven! I got a new machine about 15+ years ago. I have to get the book out almost every time I do something other than a straight stitch. Back in the day I sewed every stitch of clothing we wore but now wearing jeans and shirts all the time, there's no need to sew clothes so I quilt for the church. I've quit watching the sewing shows on PBS because those fancy machines have nothing in common with mine. I still regret giving my 1965 New Home away when I got the new one. Should never have done that. I've collected 3 machines for the church; nothing real fancy but they work. Forward, backward, zig zag. We hand tie so we don't need a quilting machine....See MoreZigzag stitch not working on an old Kenmore machine
Comments (2)Those older machines have all mechanical interiors. My guess would be that something has broken with the knob that moves the stitch type....See Morethonotorose
