DH misses the green pea soup that Campbell's used to make(he doesn't like split-pea). It's been years since I've been able to find any. I wonder if you could use frozen peas in this? I'm not a fan of canned peas, but I like fresh and frozen. Canned peas would make me gag when I was a child and when the school had them in their hot lunch, I would drink my carton of milk quickly so I could hide my peas in the empty carton, as the teacher wouldn't let me take my tray back until I ate my peas.

I have grown zipper creams for several years. Last year, I had an extra bean teepee in the pea bed just because I needed a spot to put it. Those "bush" zippers found that teepee and went straight up it. They bore more peas than I have ever seen. I wonder if Purple Hulls would do the same if they found something to climb....

I spent a long time podding peas today! Fortunately the grandies came around do I set them to work. They had a little friend with them who thought peas only came in frozen packets! I think it was luck not management.I've never had such a yield! I planted them really thickly it rows only about 2 inches apart, shoved a load of short canes in for them to climb up and the weather did the rest - the right conditions when they flowered and the right amount of rain to make them fat. We had broadbeans tonight with some sprouting broccolli, some of last year's carrots out of the freezer and a nice pork fillet rolled in fennel seeds and baked in the oven. Life's good! 2nd go around to post! Much has been written about these adn I can't find them! Honestly it might be my software that no longer uses google and search, but it seems Houzz just wants to data mine and for that it likes control. Ugh! Decided to just seed all over the place and let the plants tell me what they like with sun, temps, micro climate goodness or whatever. I know to plant to avoid frost, but that's a joke right?
