Looking for best online sources for Ceiling fans

I have been searching the net for the lowest price on a Craftmade 44 inch ceiling fan and have found the best prices to be FanWorks and Lighting by Gregory,possibly 43rd St. Lighting. Can anyone comment on these places re:reliability and and I also would appreciate the names of any additional places online with really low prices where I can order ceiling fans.

We've bought a few things from Lighting By Gregory (inc. ceiling fans) and I have nothing but positive things to say. Their customer service was helpful (when I had a question); they shipped quickly and the packages were always well-packed.

Thank you for the info, rmkitchen but I just called them and the cust. service rep, Brian had some attitude, not exactly blatently rude, but edgy and not nice at all. I am placing my order with Kathy of 43rd street Lighting in Minnesota, and I hope I am as happy at the end of this transaction as I am now.

While I don't shop mail order from them as they are a half hour drive from me I highly recommend Hughes Water Gardens. They supply many nurseries wholesale and do sell directly to the public as well. Sometimes people will exchange for garden plants, it doesn't have to be pond plants. I have purchased many waterlilies from Kat who sells on various ponding forums and eBay. Always huge for great prices below retail. Be careful on eBay there are many who sell waterlilies that aren't truly named. Here is a link that might be useful: Hughes Water Gardens Online

Don't know about the best source, but there is very little variation in T5 lamp specs, certainly between all the branded lamps. Your main choice in 4' tubes is between the standard output 28W at about 2900 lumens, and the high output 54W at 5,000 lumens. You will of course be wanting the 54W tubes if you need T5s. If you don't have high light plants then consider either the standard output 28W T5s which are more efficient, or use T8s which are much easier to find and cheaper. Lumen maintenance will be about 95% on all T5HO tubes, lifetime will be 20,000 hours or so, CRI will be 85-ish. There is a very small difference in specs between some unbranded T5s and the best branded ones but not a lot. Using a good programmed start ballast will also make a small difference. Shop around, the best deal will probably be the one with the cheapest shipping.

This is great--thanks to all of you!! I'm so glad it will be simple to fix! I am a DIY-er and figure most things out myself and was worried I'd run into something that would be difficult to fix. Now, I'm replacing a combo switch (3-way combined with 2-way) right now and had the neighbor over for five hours yesterday trying to figure it out. Looks like the PO really made a mess of some of the wiring, and we still didn't get it fixed after all that time, we just capped off the wires. I think I'll just call in a pro on that one though, instead of trying to explain all of the details to you guys. Thanks again for all of your help!!

best online source for beveled subway tile?

Sorry, I'm not here with an online source, but just a little caveat. I had a white beveled subway tile backsplash installed (from Classic Tile in Brooklyn, NY -- love it and them), but was disappointed to find that the particular line of tile I chose (US Ceramics) does not offer a 3x3 beveled tile to finish off the ends of the runs. My installer had to cut the 3x6 tiles but then we wound up with one cut, and not beveled, edge. If I were to do it over again, I'd be sure to choose a brand that offered the matching 3x3 beveled piece. Just my two cents.

Does it have to be Craftmade?

I just sold two perfect ceiling fans on Craigslist for $20 each. I started the price at $50 and no one wanted them, I just kept lowering the price till someone finally took them for $20 each.

I noticed that there are a LOT of really good ceiling fans on Craigslist. If you're looking for a bargain, it might be a good place to start.
