ok i probably shouldn't have looked. i need to wait until i paint..... BUT for those of you who don't need to wait. JC Penny is having a sale and the la scala drapes are looking pretty good. 95" length is only $79 a panel. . . .

Those are very nice! I looked at them last week in the store. I ended up buying the Supreme antique satin pinch pleat drapes in Linen. 75X84 pair, reg price $125, on sale for 64.99, and I had a $10 off coupon. They were $3 cheaper on the website, but shipping would have eaten that up, and i went to the store becasue I wnated to make sure of the color before ordering. Now to decide on what to hang them on!

TARGET!! you won't believe this but I went and bought lined faux silk drapes there a few weeks ago, brought them home and realized I knew why they appealed to me: they looked IDENTICAL to the totally REAL silk drapes I have in my dining room (and also the exact same color--I must have had a lapse of mental ability!). But for my guest room, they are great and the texture is very nice. They were $17 per panel. A great find! I like the idea above about gluing on some decorative trim...I'll have to do that!

Silk draperies need to be made correctly else you will have problems with the way they look and perform. I provide custom window treatments for a living and first I will say without a doubt that you get what you pay for. Silk must be lined and interlined as it is very fragile and will rot if exposed to bright sunlight. As a designer, I would steer you away from silk draperies as it sounds as if you have very big sun and that you would be relying on the draperies for solar control. If you really want genuine silk, I would encourage you to layer your window treatment with some sort of shade or shutter which will temper the bright sunshine. The draperies still need to be interlined, thermal lining is not something that does well with the hand of silk fabric. The two fabrics are at odds with each other. There are some spectacular faux silks which look quite nice, it would be a better alternative for you with your special requirements. As you might imagine, I am an advocate of using the services of an experienced designer who can not only provide you with the window treatments but who can offer some advice which will keep you from making an expensive mistake.

For rods I'm thinking of something similar to the Tobaco collection at RH, which is on sale right now. I'd prefer not to pay RH prices for silk drapes if I can find something of a similar style. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! I've been waiting for what seems like forever for those drapes to go on sale and this is the first week I haven't scanned online...and luckily Sheesharee is on the case :).

I have the LaScala drapes in my living room in copper brown and I liked them so much I bought the amber gold color for my family room. Nice drapes for the price! Happy shopping!

I also bought them a few months ago for my breakfast area in copper brown. I love them. I got them 100" length and hung them under my crown molding. It made the room look so much bigger. I'm going home in a few minutes and will take a picture.

I went with pinch pleats and so glad that I did. I don't think I could have made them hang right without the pleats.
