Please pardon me for chiming in, but this subject has recently peaked my interest. Someone has just mentioned about the floor being level, which I think further complicates this subject for the antagonists of using the mortar bed. I believe what they are talking about is the parallelism between the ledger board and the floor, since we can get too hung up with the floor being level. I am the first one to admit, that when you consider something very simple some comes along and says , not so fast, and someone tells you something that is hard to comprehend as to why. I must admit that this whole subject is very new to me, but I think what the people instructing us here are trying to get us to visualize is, imagine the tub sitting flat on the floor with no ledger board, and then if you could somehow put the ledger board in after the tub is already sitting on the floor with just the same pressure pushing up on the board as the pressure of the tub has against the floor , that would be Ideal. I think that is what they are trying to tell you!

Thanks for all the suggestions. I did actually do what you suggested gardener1908 - I mixed the "snowy" glitter with just a little pink glitter, painted the tips with craft glue and then sprinkled on the glitter mixture. I really like the way it came out. Now I just have to put all the things on. I am not sure if I am going to put any pink glitter on the ribbon. I think that may be overdoing it.

I agree... sometimes a glue stick just does not have enough finesse for the project. And the cheap ones get "gummy" and are useless! See link below for various types of adhesives... I have not bought from that site... just using it to show you the various glues/adhesives available. Note that there are 3 pages to look at! You will find most of these at any large craft store, and especially at scrapbooking stores. Take a look at the glue dots (available in various sizes) as well as the "tape runners." And then there is glue that does NOT wrinkle paper in bottles with very small tips - easy to apply just where you want it. You might want to buy a small package of several types of adhesive and give them a try on scraps so your wedding projects will be just as you want. Here is a link that might be useful: Adhesives

I honestly don't know the moisture content of the subfloor. Below is another floor (NOT a basement, it's a ground floor). The end joists are insulated with Polyurethane Spray Foam (4 inches = R24), so we're safe there. The upper floor walls are R24, the lower floor walls are R18-R22. As a matter of fact the whole house was insulated with SPF, the roof being R36. Of course we do get humidity fluctuations in Montreal, with our winters being dry and our summers very humid. We will be installing an air exchanger and a central humidifier. I'm guessing the humidifier would help? Would you still use glue? Thanks.
