25th wedding anniversary scrapbook

i am currently working on a scrapbook for my parents anniversary party. i havent ever done a scrapbook of any kind. i would greatly appreciate any helpful information anyone would like to give me.

There are a bunch of postings here that should offer some insight. If you have a local scrapbooking store or even a Michaels or AC Moore, they offer classes and often have pages on display. The classes are usually only $5-$10 each. There are also books on the subject. It might be worth checking out your local library for what they have. There are also a bunch of websites...just jump onto one of the popular search engines and look for scrapbooking...a bunch of hits will be listed!

Von & Laurel, Loved your similar stories! My husband works part time (on days he's not at his regular job) at Abbott Farms here in Baldwinsville. They like to joke with him that most wives call to ask their husbands to pick up a loaf of bread on the way home from work, but that I call to ask him to bring home manure/topsoil or mulch!! :0) Phyl

Thanks for your comments, Socks. It will be in the summer in a local park. Our daughter works for the local park district, so we have some inside info on that. There's a couple of different parks to choose from, but the one I saw today has a water slide that I think would be nice for the kids. Also this park is near the area where our minister is so it will be easy for him to mosey on over. And thanks to you too, Lisa, for your info about food. I think we can rent grills. I guess I just have to figure out if cooking ourselves is doable. But then your idea of having someone else do the work sounds VERY enticing!! And I had forgotten about the cleanup work!! I'm getting excited -- but nervous only because of all the twists!!lol Thanks for your great input!! I'll keep you posted!! msfingers2

I would go ahead and give them their silver anniversary gift now, because now is when they are celebrating. So what that it's a little early? It's no big deal, just a mistake. They aren't misrepresenting anything, just celebrating early -- nothing wrong with that. But it you prefer for some reason, you can wait another year -- just don't spill the beans to anyone else.

I would be tempted to make up a little envelope full of brochures on Italy, with a little note saying, "Surprise! I booked us a trip for May!". As soon as a look of shock/dread crosses his face tell him the truth. I'm a brat. I wouldn't be able to resist.

I just did a 50th Anniversary Party and I used information on what was going on in the year they were married and the years their children were born, tying it in with their life, e.g.:

"1954 - The first successful kidney transplant, "Sports Illustrated" debuts, The New York Stock Exchange prices reach their highest level since 1929, the phrase "Under God" is added to the Pledge of Allegiance, Davy Crockett becomes a national fad and on February 12th Charles and Evelyn add their own Davy to their little family!"
