Many many years ago, when I first became disabled, someone asked me if I had a friend closer than my sisters. I didn't, so they suggested I pray for one. I did. Marta and I were already friendly, but not close. Shortly after that, we went Christmas caroling at a nursing home. Later, sipping cocoa, we found ourselves seated next to each other. I spoke of my father, who had just had a miraculous recovery from a heart attack when he was one of the first recipients of experimental TPA. She said that her father had had a similar recovery as one of the first recipients of experimental angioplasty. We are both "daddy's girls" and found ourselves talking about them. They were both rosarians and bred (as they were then called) Seal Point Siamese cats. This was all lots of fun, but when we discovered that we had the "same" abusive mother, well., the bond was set. On 9/11, I got calls asking about my husband, who worked a few blocks from the twin towers. The most touching was from Marta, who was returning from overseas with her husband. They were in a plane that was being re-routed to Canada. They were allowed 1 call from the plane to family to alert them of their situation. She called me to ask about John. I hope I can find this rose. Thank you again.

Jan, I have often thought when one has been through hard times for many years with someone, the grief of how we would like things to be starts way back then. It's pieces of grief over and over again, so when that person passes, perhaps we've already done alot of grieving of losses we might have had with them. Relief is probably to be expected, too. I love your idea of a list of good memories you remember with her. Susan, I am thinking of your family today. We are also having dinner with our DIL & Son who lost their baby...hold each other close & time will heal the fresh sadness. Liz

You might also maybe want to try looking around for someone who does home demonstrations of the scrapbooking variety. I know that one of them carries these. (Sorry for being so vague, but this is the second time I am trying to answer your post, and the first time I was "Sent to Disney" (YIKES!!)I think for using the name of the company!! I'm so sorry about the passing of your Sister. That damn cancer is a horrific and nondiscrimination disease. The passing of Elizabeth must have brought many memories back to you. It doesn't matter how much time has passed, news like this brings the pain back. We lost our precious Daughter-in-law a year ago in June. Although the pain has eased some, the empty feeling will probably be there until i join her. I send you (((((Hugs))))) and wish you Peace.
