Many many years ago, when I first became disabled, someone asked me if I had a friend closer than my sisters. I didn't, so they suggested I pray for one. I did. Marta and I were already friendly, but not close. Shortly after that, we went Christmas caroling at a nursing home. Later, sipping cocoa, we found ourselves seated next to each other. I spoke of my father, who had just had a miraculous recovery from a heart attack when he was one of the first recipients of experimental TPA. She said that her father had had a similar recovery as one of the first recipients of experimental angioplasty. We are both "daddy's girls" and found ourselves talking about them. They were both rosarians and bred (as they were then called) Seal Point Siamese cats. This was all lots of fun, but when we discovered that we had the "same" abusive mother, well., the bond was set. On 9/11, I got calls asking about my husband, who worked a few blocks from the twin towers. The most touching was from Marta, who was returning from overseas with her husband. They were in a plane that was being re-routed to Canada. They were allowed 1 call from the plane to family to alert them of their situation. She called me to ask about John. I hope I can find this rose. Thank you again.

I got this book several weeks ago, as it came with a class at the local scrap shop. It helps if you have some knowledge of quilting, but the book offers lots of ideas and some patterns. I was able to make one page for baby book I'm working on, and it came out nicely. Hope this helps. I would say buy or borrow the book.

Hi there, Isn't that a terrific site? I have been there before, but could only "window shop" as I haven't got a clue how to download those. Everyone has told me that i need to open it with some other program, but for some reason I haven't had any luck :( I did, however, copy one freehand...the devil alphabet, to spell out ds's name as that was what he dressed up for for Hallowe'en! If you know of a site that would give me a tutorial, let me know! ~Mar~

It is appropriate to briefly mention those who have passed on in the program, but to dedicate an entire page to her with a picture might be a bit much. If she passed away recently, then having a memorial candle or bouquet is appropriate with a brief note in the program explaining the significance of the item. If she passed away a number of years ago, then limit it only to the note in the program. Again, if she passed away recently, it is also appropriate to leave one seat empty with a white rose on it. The bride can place the rose on the chair when she enters. This is quite common when parents are deceased.
