Broken mirror attached to door

Hi, This may be the wrong place to post abut here goes: I have a full length mirror attached to a sliding wooden bedroom closet door. It was here when I moved in. I tried to get it off but evidently it is glued on. I tried prying it off but the mirror broke in some places leaving the rest attached. Does anyone know of a better way of removing the rest of the large pieces still attached? I am also concerned about safety with falling and breaking glass. Thank you so much.

Go to a sporting goods store and get some woven Dacron fishing line (NOT mono filament).
Use some pieces of wood as handles and make a cutting line.
You 'saw' back and forth through the adhesive with the fishing line.
If the mirror is to wide you may need two people to alternate pulling.
It takes a while depending on how much adhesive is present, but is much safer than trying to break the mirror up.
Put tape (this is actually a good use for 'duct' tape) along the cracks and start at the top and work down.
If the only thing holding the mirror is the adhesive, a couple screws snug against the bottom edge of the mirror will take the weight when the adhesive lets go so the mirror does not slide down the door and hit the floor.
Falling broken glass is VERY dangerous.
It can cut all the way to bone if it has fallen any distance before hitting you.

Hi, Thank you for your prompt response. You are so right about the danger of falling glass. That is why I thought I would see if there is an easier way. I do have someone I can work with on this. I will try this. Thank you.

I like No. 2 very much; I notice a lot of folks chose No. 4; it may suit the style of your windows, but No. 2 does more for the house. All I read says the doors should make a statement...not tone it down as someone said. We just got an estimate on two Classica 3000 for $4,500; they are 8 x 9 foot doors, but just the doors and not the openers...so your price sounds good. They are guaranteed for life we were told, all the mechanisms, etc. guaranteed...and sometimes garage door springs and parts can be very expensive plus the labor. How did you get these doors overlayed onto your house photo?

Bi-fold doors are often installed with flimsy hardware, and the symptoms you are noticing are typical. You could have someone put in quality, heavier-duty bi-fold hardware, or you could make the changeover to swinging doors, but you would need someone competent with the right skills and tools.

Thanks for the responses, everyone! At this point it's seeming likely I just need to go ahead and get a new oven. But I appreciate having the second opinions before I do that. In response to the inquiries from @wdccruise and @blubird, I've tried tugging on the door when it's as open as I can get it, but that's still short of even the broil position. Suffice to say, if I try pulling upward in that barely-open position, it still won't budge. As I show in the linked YouTube video in my post, I get heavy resistance (particularly on the right side) whenever I try to pull it open, and the harder I pull, the louder the creaking, which is why I suspect that if I just pull as hard as I can it'll just bend/break a hinge or the part of the door where it attaches. Maybe I'll break it before I throw the thing away just so I'll be able to say I saw the root cause. :)

I saw this as a "handy hint" in a magazine I read last night. Exact same, except they recommended braided picture hanging wire instead of fishing line. Gloves, eye protection and shoes.
