Hey Darla! I was doing a search for witch hazel and this thread popped up. Wow, bless your heart that is awful that you fell down the stairs like that! I do hope you heal quickly and are able to at least enjoy the cuttings, maybe do some seed starting as well? I hope you have ample support from family and friends as well! Steve, This will continue to grow and make a plant approx. 5ft tall. You probably won't find much if you dig them this summer (2010) as the single clove needs time to make a nice new head. By next summer (2011) you could start harvesting, but I'd leave at least a couple til the following year and get a cycle going.
