Lynn - Every year I look forward to the photos from the Hot Air Balloon festival. The colors are so sharp and clear you'd swear they were Photoshopped. My Mother is from NM and we used to drive there every other summer to visit relatives in Santa Fe, Albuquerque, Clovis and Fort Sumner. We used to swim in the Pecos River - all of 3' deep due to irrigation needs. My DIL's father lives in Albuquerque and my son and his wife was supposed to go this year during the festival but he had to travel for work. Fun2 - I love the holiday decorations too but I try to avoid them because I really just don't have room for any more - and it seems that every year I find something else to add to my decorations. Some day we'll downsize and I'll have a terrible time deciding what to keep. Nanny - my neighbor puts his up in the fall too because the weather is so much nicer but at least he doesn't turn them on until Thanksgiving week. Maire

I've purchased several tops that are appropriate for my worklife (they're knit, but they are one step up from casual, but not too businessy). Liked almost all except for a couple that were just a shade off from what would've been perfect. I think twice before ordering nowadays because of the return costs, as Cynic posted, and just the general hassle of packing things up and getting to the P.O. I haven't bought anything except clothes from them in a long time, altho I do keep an eye online on handbags, cuz I've been looking for "just the right one"! The merchandise is certainly of a higher class (cost, obviously; quality, I can't speak of) mixed among other stuff now. Apple products, many lines of high-end bags (not just Dooney/Burke anymore), a lot of electronics. Between QVC and HSN years ago, I've spent too much money on return-postage alone, so I'd rather spend time driving to stores near me for the hands-on test.

Well, I'll admit to being a QVC shopper! IdaC described it well - as viable as Amazon for a from-home shopper. But in some ways better, because with the exhausting description by the host, you do know what you're getting. And no, QVC no longer sells collectibles; those have been replaced by a large array of electronics. And flameless candles :0) I've specifically purchased shoes (esp. Clarks and Alegria slides), electronics, simple, handy kitchen doodads, jewelry for myself and others (very pretty, but you do have to exercise self-control), cleaning products, and a few holiday items. Two things for which I searched for a long time, years in fact: a long-sleeved black crepe blouse (Joan Rivers) for evenings out - here on the Peninsula that blouse over everything from palazzo pants to jeans will get you in everywhere; and a set of stainless cutlery made by Iron Forge for Ellen deGeneres, which is so well-made and good-looking, heavy in the hand and smooth to the touch, that even DH remarked about how nice it is. Well-worth the decades-long wait. They also have really good customer relations, phone manners, return policies, and packaging, so they're very easy to deal with.
