We had a JoAnn fabric store but it moved to Kokomo, Indiana, and it doesn't have a very good inventory either. Our Walmart is getting very little in and it is mostly craft stuff, and I hate that. I have a cotton striped fabric that I want to make a summer jacket,from but I need some fabric for the collars and cuffs in a heavier cotton fabric that you would make summer slacks from. I need it in a candy pink color. Can anybody direct me to a source. You used to be able to get some fabric from Nancy Zieman's catalog but I don't get to watch that show anymore. Any help? Barb

The only mail order source specifically offering such grafts is Camellia Forest. Porterhowse had some a few years ago, but not anymore and he acted like it was unlikely more are forthcoming. There are a couple wholesalers in the Southeast that are starting to focus on this. (and I think this is where David Parks gets his plants) I saw the catalog of one up at Rarefind recently, but I forget the name of it. Ron said "those guys came up to do a sales pitch" so I think we'll be seeing more of this in the next several years. Different category of plant but there are also a couple rhododendron wholesalers in the northeast who are going to start to produce grafted plants. I have mixed feeling about it. Though it will make certain cultivars somewhat easier to grow I don't want to see nurseries use it as an excuse to try to turn rhododendrons into a carefree gas station plant. Which other than the ironclads, they are not and deserve better than that.

Florida Colors is usually my first stop for grafted, hard-to-find plants. They also sell rooted cuttings and seeds, too. Very good quality and service and their prices are excellent. Just remember with seeds that you'll have to wait from 3-5 or even 6 years to see any blooms, and that they will not be the same as the mother plant.

Blue Baron is a lepidopte rhododendron rather than an azalea. The one usually seen for sale was hybridized by Weston Nurseries in MA by crossing Waltham with the German hybrid gletrschernacht, aka Starry Night. There is apparently an unregistered West coast hybrid of unknown parentage also called Blue Baron. A couple of cautions about the Weston Nurseries Blue Baron: I have seen it listed and labeled (not by the originators) as hardy through Zone 5. It is not. Even Zone 6a is borderline. It is prone to bark split if it is not protected from winter sun. In my experience, it sets few flower buds and never looks as good in the garden as it does in the heavily fertilized pots at the nursery. Given the parentage, excessive summer heat will very likely be a real problem for this variety. If it's planted in too much shade to protect it from heat, it will set even fewer flower buds. Maybe someone somewhere has a flourishing specimen of Blue Baron in the garden, but I've never seen one. Caveat emptor.

Glad to hear someone else discovered them. Personal service, amazing fabrics. I've been looking for a Harris Tweed/Herringbone very "British" "handsome" type of fabric and could not find any anywhere, other than Ralph Lauren at $200+/yd., or over in London. So very thrilled to have found this place, which I did via eBay. Congrats on your great find!

Thanks for replying. I do not do quilting. My desires have to do with the making of my own garments. There is no place where they have that available around here anymore. Even the 4H kids are not interested and they don't teach it in school either. I would like to order some knit fabric to make shirts. Which company would you recommend for that? Barb

you might try ebay,,I've bought fabric off ebay and it was very nice fabric, I made some very nice outfits ( top & skirt)
that I wear to church out of the fabric and some outfits I still have to make, also made my dd some lounge pants out of the fabric from ebay..
