Let's Talk About Restor-A-Finish . . .

I may have found a dining room table . . .it's from the late 1800s and in serious need of some lovin'. I haven't seen it in person, but the seller says that there are only SLIGHT nicks, but definitely a lot of scratches.

As long as there aren't deep gouges in the wood, would Restor-A-Finish work?

Also, can it work to actually change the color of the finish (can you go from mahogany to golden oak, for example) or do you have to match what is there?

Thanks!!
