Yes it is aggressive, I used to have one climbing on a white wrought iron trellis in full sun in the front border, it smothered the trellis, couldnÂt see the trellis at all, as well it drifted into the flower gardens. Yes you can control prune it but you'll need to do this at least every week once it matures. I found the leaves get somewhat tattered and sunburned in full sun later in the season, but the hanging hops are beautiful. I had to RoundUp it several times to kill than dang thing, took a couple of years. I did though before I killed it, dug a little piece out and planted it on the north side of the house running up an old television antenna, it doesnÂt get sunburned, although it stays more green than lime green in the shade, its also not as aggressive ;) Sharon

OK, thank you. I wasn't clicking on the right spot. I clicked on the teeny down arrow and found the report card for the site. I had right clicked and went to MY WOT and entered name of site but wasn't favorable. Today I copied the exact site to enter it and it gave it an excellent report card. I've been shying away from the sites with the exclamation marks.

I've just been on the monocoat.us site and did some more detailed reading of it. That' what I'm going with! I was impressed by the technology of it, that it causes the wood fibers to compress and bond, so it's not even that it "needs" only one coat but rather it will only take one coat because once the reaction occurs, the wood fibers can't take another coat. Impressive. It's also safer, i.e.: food/health. It's also a lot easier to repair if needed, and really impressive is that, if you do need to do a repair, because of the bonding technology, any bonded fibers around the area being repaired will not take the new Monocoat being applied! I think that's amazing. Their site does have a gallery with pic of kitchen counters, including one around a kitchen sink with a big ol' puddle of water on it. As well, kitchen counters are certainly a heck of a lot easier to re-coat every 3- 6 years, as recommended, than floors. So, Monocoat it will be for my kitchen counters. I wouldn't hesitate to use it on an island counter (is there a sink in the island?). My only concern with the Monocoat, aside from the color, was the water around the sink, thing. But that seems to be resolved for me. I'm going to order three samples: Antique Bronze, Castle Brown, and Walnut. I want a rich somewhat deep but not dark brown with gold highlights but with NO red or orange.

You guys are going about this all wrong. How much is the change order and how much is the total cost of the job. If the amount is not that big then pay it and move on. If you don't pay it and you have additional changes not included later then the contractor will recoup that easily in cost of new change orders. Most plans are not detailed enough to cover the clients in cases like this. Plans look good, but are usually only enough to secure a building permit. When you get a bid from 3-4 contractors that is why the cost can vary greatly. If you have the means to spend a lot for plans then you get all details spelled out and a book of specifications on framing material, windows, doors hardware, fixtures etc. With these plans contractors have all the information with the exception of hidden items or unknown problems. Your goal is to talk it through and keep a good relationship with your contractor and him with you. You will get a better job. I have been doing this for 40 years. An old Italian builder once told me you can wipe your ass with a contract. No one wins so work it out.
