One of my duties when I worked in the Philadelphia Library was to maintain the clipping file. Every day I read a handful of local papers and clipped articles that might be useful to our patrons or staff. These papers only had a local circulation and were too small to be indexed in any of the major published indexes. This was back in the 70's before we had a computer on every desk and cubby. Retrieving a newspaper or periodical article meant locating the microfiche or microcard and using the appropriate readers. Newspapers in their original form were too fragile for long term storage unless in an archival setting - controlled temperature and humidity, light, dust and pollution free etc. In other words it was a royal P.I.A. - Any clipping that we deemed important was photocopied onto permanent paper - paper that was acid free, lignin free, and tear resistant. The link below has a lot of information of preserving newspapers and at the bottom of the article it has a link to creating archival scrapbooks too. Here is a link that might be useful: clippings

this is great a year or so ago I asked about the digital scrapbooking. I'll study your great layouts more. I love what they are doing with todays scrapbooking and wish I had started 40 years ago but find I look at things more on the computer now. I also believe you can put the pages on CD's and play thru a tv at least that is what I've heard. thanks for coming over here.

Dear Kris, I have bought about 25+ times from there and have only had one person not come through with their end of the deal. The auction site usually will only refund your money of the order purchase was over $25.00, or at least that was what I was told the time I tried to get my money back. I lost $8.00 so they didn't refund my money as it was below their standard level for refunds. They did offer to contact the seller for me but they requested that I do so first. I know that most seller's will get put on a probation if they get too many negative feedbacks. I am sorry that you had this experience with them, unfortunely the scrapbook business is booming so fast that many people are trying to jump on the band wagon and not all of them know the craft or care about the people doing it. They also said I could fill out a post fraud report with the post office if I didn't get my item, that is an option for you too. Let me know how this ends. Penny

Im 17 years old and so far i have made 6 books. Last year one of my moms co-workers asked me if i could make a book for her. Her son just turned 31 and she wanted a book that would reflect his life up until that point. He was a world champion Irish dancer, worked in the white house, took part in the air force, graduated from law school, became part of a prestige law firm, and the achievements go on. I made one book [which i always refer to as the "big book"] fulled with his achievements, awards, pictures, and diplomas. And then strictly a photo album. It ended up about 100 pages in the "big book" and about 50 in the photo album She paid me a little along the way $20 here and there to keep me motivated and then a final sum of $100. The total i believe was about $180. She loved my work so much that she decided that she wanted me to do all her kids. I made another two books for her older son. His books was less time consuming and less awards. She paid me $150. I just did two books for her daughter. Both the books were "big books" I hand sewed and machine stitched a cover for her book with and added a ruffle. I really did think of taking it up as an actual job. I thought that i would charge a flat fee. .. say $50 just for doing a book. Then a price range depending on how many pages you want done, how you want it done, if you want a cover, and when you wanted it done. so yea, you can make quite a lot of money off it, but i dont think online is the best way to do it. its good to sit down with the person to go through the pictures and find out stories behind them. It makes it easier to connect to the person the book is about.
