Trouble with auction scrapbook purchase

I ordered some punchies and die cuts from two different people on *a large auction site* (can we use the name on this forum?) both with positive ratings over 100. Both these auctions ended 6-22-00. I signed up for paypal using one as a referral. I received ths punchies I ordered from her, but not the "free" bonus stuff she promised me. When I e-mailed her she wrote that she had sent them before the punchies I got and should be arriving anytime. Still nothing. The second person has not responded to any of my emails. I paid both parties the day I received their addresses, by PAYPAL, and I had receipts e-mailed to me. Has anyone else ever had problems with auctions? I don't know exactly what to do next. I guess just keep checking that mailbox :-) And they weren't large purchases, just a couple of dollars, but I guess its just the principal of the thing. And I don't think mailing would take that long. I live in NC, one of the ladies is in AL. Well thanks for letting me vent!

If it is that "e" company, I believe that they have a type of customer service contact person. They send e-mails to them, but I don't think they can really "do" anything. You can always leave a bad report...I know that doesn't really solve your problem, but others may be helped.

I sell on that site and buy there too (sometimes TOO much I must admit)! I have had problems from time to time as well but not many! What were the responses from the sellers when you emailed them about the concerns?

How inspired are you mirendajean? We are not allowed to import large plants from Britain anymore, but we can get cuttings. There are many varieties that we love to get cuttings from if you'd like to consider an exchange program. As our European branch you could send us cuttings that we are searching for and we'd be happy to help you out. All you really need is a friend to work with you. It might seem like a small effort at first, but even if you can help save one plant from extinction, you are making an important contribution. Kathy is a great help to us and while we really want to know what plants rosarians in the US are looking for, please let us know if you have cuttings of a variety that you think is rare. Working with Chris in Columbus, we were able to get plants of Conrad Hilton, Miss Hillcrest, Texan and Magic Moon. I am working on getting more plants of Ralph Moore's 'Most Unusual Day', which seems to have disappeared from commerce. At the moment we have been desperately searching for Sunrise-Sunset (Herb Swim's not Ping Lim's). Let me know if anyone can provide cuttings. Mike It is great that you can trade and get all of the hostas you want. I trade hostas with friends also. The trouble is that you have to be careful who you trade with to make sure you get problem free plants. Also if you don't have many plants or any newer ones people are not going to trade a new plant they paid a lot of money for for a common plant that has been around for a long time. I am pretty sure there will not be anyone trading for the plants from the auction. Most are very rare and only one or two available. Not that they are any better plants then ones you can trade for they are just harder to come by (rare). In fact there are some people that say the common ones are better and will grow better but when you pay big $$ for them they are sure to die - or at least be eaten by the deer

lalalandwi: I can understand your disappointment with some sellers on LA. Yes, there are ones as Maximus says who have very high prices for their DL's but I too just ignore those as I would ignore any seller on any site with an extremely high price. Low priced dl's are only low until you tack on the shipping and you have spent more than the daylily was. I check Ebay, LA, alot of the sites mentioned here on GW as well as just googling for a particular daylily I want and see what comes up and then I decide what I can afford to pay. I like to try new sellers since I always seem to find a "gem" worth doing repeat business with. I'm not afraid of sellers in the South as I was once a bit afraid to try. I am still skeptical of California growers but maybe I'll get over that as well one day. I'd post who I buy from on the auction sites but then you might be bidding against me one day ;-). Best advice. Stick to what you can afford and don't get caught up in the frenzy. Good luck. If your using your ISP's email account, then possibly they are blocking or dumping it in your spam or trash folder. Keep trying. Julia

what made you presume that the guy who runs the library .... has the time or ability to vet everyone who gratuitously sells on the library??? i do believe there are more than enough disclaimers regarding such .... caveat emptor.. eh??? the other thing i dont get .. 99% of these sellers are home business ... and yet you expect service greater than a fortune 100 company ...is your life really changed if your hosta show up a day or a week late??? all that said.. i FULLY understand the need to get.. fondle ... and plant your new hosta.. been there done that.. even rolled around in them ... BUT lets have some perspective here .... you probably wouldnt even complain this much if your mail order heart meds were late ... rotflmbo ... BUT GOD FORBID MY HOSTA ARE A DAY LATE .... just messin with ya.. have a great day ... ken PS: maybe the seller felt they needed to lay on the driveway for a week before being sent ...

Dear Kris,
I have bought about 25+ times from there and have only had one person not come through with their end of the deal. The auction site usually will only refund your money of the order purchase was over $25.00, or at least that was what I was told the time I tried to get my money back. I lost $8.00 so they didn't refund my money as it was below their standard level for refunds. They did offer to contact the seller for me but they requested that I do so first. I know that most seller's will get put on a probation if they get too many negative feedbacks. I am sorry that you had this experience with them, unfortunely the scrapbook business is booming so fast that many people are trying to jump on the band wagon and not all of them know the craft or care about the people doing it. They also said I could fill out a post fraud report with the post office if I didn't get my item, that is an option for you too. Let me know how this ends. Penny

wow im sorry that that happened i just placed several orders with them on things for my wedding i have send payment so i hope i get my stuff. The times that i have ordered before it took me about 2 weeks to get my stuff but i got it. im not sure if there is anything that you can do but i would leave negative feedback.
