YIKES!! (LOL) Where to start! :) I love the old fashioned scrapbooks where things are glued in etc. But, with all the talk of acid in the papers and glues destroying the photos over time, I have opted for the Creative Memories albums and supplies. I think it would be wonderful to share ideas, pictures etc with everyone who is working on the same theme. It would also be great for everyone to post their favourite scrapbooking sites here. There are soooo many of them, that it would be nice to know which ones people have found useful. Creative Memories is an American company that sells (through home parties)Scrapbooking supplies. They are expensive but from my point of view, well worth the money. They sell different sizes of albums all with acid free, buffered pages, acid free photo mounting papers, adhesives, acid free stickers and die cuts for decorating your pages, and all the tools you could imagine...scissors, rulers, templates etc...does that help? Just thought, maybe I should introduce myself..I am in Ontario, Canada, have been scrapbooking for about 6 years, am a "retired" (ha ha) Creative Memories consultant, and am working on my 7th album. (Have two sons, 9 and 5) When I first started to scrapbook, I only used Creative Memories products and was careful what I put in my albums, making sure they were acid free etc. However, in the last little while, I have found that that really isn't my "style" I have started to add all kinds of things..pressed flowers, memorabilia, lots of things, that really remind me of the old fashioned type of scrapbooks. Personally, I don't even use an ironing board anymore. I prefer to use my work table. I had my hubby use contact cement to glue a layer of cork (available at hardware stores in rolls) to the top. I've found that the cork seems to be heat/steam resistant. Not only does this give me a firm surface to press on, it also is more sturdy for putting a lot of pressure on, like when fusing interfacing. I can put all my weight on the table without worrying that it will collapse! Also, the height is comfortable to press on while I'm seated. I use this table for pattern altering too because I can stick pins directly into the cork to hold pattern pieces where I need them before taping together. I did make a removable cover for this table for ironing. I just cut up an old mattress pad, used two layers with an old towel between (afterwards I realized that the heat didn't hurt the cork) and elastic on the corners to hold it to the table. You can get heat-resistant fabric and put a layer of that on the bottom if you want too. I also cover the cork top with a layer of paper (that inexpensive table cover paper) or two and draw my gridlines on it for pattern altering. I replace the paper when it needs. I even iron on top the paper (careful with the steam, of course). The only thing the cork top isn't good for is cutting with a rotary cutter. Then I put a cutting mat over top. hoosier, I believe it was on the Home and Garden or House and Garden magazine site. I tell you how I came to the site, I was searching for Southern Plantation decor or Southern decor and this site kept coming up. It wasn't titled with the title of the magazine, but when you were inside the site the reference to the magazine was there. It wasn't Better Homes and Garden, I know that. You might also just search "window treatments." That's how I found it inside this particular site. I'll try to find it again and let you know.
