Ohh-- I love that green velvet Stockholm fabric!

I have seen the dark blue Vellinge, at least recently. Not sure if new? I wish they'd bring the dark pink Vellinge back. AFAIK it was only the UK or very limited.

They've had the vellinge blue for awhile. I've never seen the pink. One thing they had in the store but not in the new catalog is a new light beige washable cover for $49. I had the name written down but lost it.

I liked the stockholm dining table and chairs. I sat in one last week and they were comfortable. But I think they were close to $200 each with the cushion, so not exactly budget furniture.

I have to go back in a couple of days, if they ever get the dr chairs in stock that I want for my table. They keep getting their shipment postponed....at least we get frozen yogurt out of the many trips we've taken there lately. : )

I love on page 2 the giant cat poster - he appears to be watching the kids play on the floor!

I seem to like everything called Stockholm. The high-back chair, the nesting tables, the dining chair, the bed, the sofa . . .

Well cr--! We just stopped at one on vacation and I forgot to pick up the new catalog--shoot.

The Strandmon wing chair on the cover was surprisingly comfortable. We are all tall and many times their chairs are too low to the ground and not deep enough for us. Would consider getting one with the foot stool. The college DD's even mentioned it would be a good chair to sleep in, the wings would keep your head from falling over!

Has anybody seen the Stockholm leather sofa in real life yet?

Forboystoo--thanks I forgot about requesting one on-line. One should be here in a few weeks. On-line is nice but I like flipping the pages of a catalog.

Now if the kids would finish school and move out so we can decorate a fun apartment or two!

My kids did move out and all 3 have small apartments in the city and there's an IKEA near them too. There were quite a few items in the catalog that they could use and of course the price is reasonable.

But I don't know anything about the quality. Are there certain items to avoid?

Their apts have little storage and I was looking at shelving units and armoires. Is it the same as Sauder which I think is also particleboard?

Ikea kitchen cabinets are great. Everything else varies widely in quality. IMHO, there are many things to avoid, unless you are buying for throwaway.

Some things are great, some are very terrible and what's good can change. The current Ektorp sofa and Billy bookcase are okay, but nothing like the quality of ten year old versions of the same, for instance.

The Ikea Godmorgon bathroom cabinets are as good as their kitchen cabinets - the combination of the gloss grey or white cabinets and their Odensvik vanity top/sinks looks seriously high-end, but they're quite affordable. They're also very practical, with 2 or 4 deep drawers each, the top one(s) made possible by drain plumbing (included with sink) that's pushed to the far back. Can be suspended from the wall, or mounted on legs. I don't care for their faucets, but any single-hole faucet will fit. Choose a nice one and everyone will think you spent a fortune on your bathroom remodel.

Other Ikea classics include the sturdy Expedit shelf cubes, which are finished front and back, top and bottom, so can be reversed or even turned upside down if the top gets damaged (or used as room dividers) and the incredibly comfortable Poang chair.

I also have half my home lit with Ikea LED light bulbs, mostly the 702.224.89. They draw about 6 watts each, last like forever, turn on at full brightness immediately, and give off light that's absolutely indistinguishable from incandescent bulbs. They have clear, globe, and candelabra variations too that are also great.

How has the Billy bookcase been cheapened? I haven't bought any, but have looked at them at haven't noticed any changes over the years, except for the low-end white version.
