It appears that 99.9999% of the posts here are women.Â There apparently are no more single men . . . perhaps that's why you ladies are single??

Maybe, but I doubt it. I think women are inherently more verbal and more inclined to talk about feelings, experiences, etc. Many men will give you the facts and/or their opinion but are less inclined to embellish or analyze interpersonal interactions. Mind you, this is a very broad generalization. Maybe the fellows are hanging out on the tractor forum...hmmm. I can learn to like tractors...yeah, that's the ticket!

It's an interesting observation but I think the conclusion is off base. I'm betting that the majority of single women who post here are single by choice. What say ye, ladies?

That is a really great observation Kelly. I am not exactly certain of the answer to your question but I have some thoughts about it. One of the terms that you might have heard in relation to plants is phototropism. Phototropism is an action shown by photosynthetic plants in which they grow towards the strongest source of light. Your plant may have simply decided to stop growth due to lack of light near the ceiling. The newly forming basal growths will have a much better chance of photosynthesizing so the plant has decided to focus it's energy there. An interesting adaptation shown buy some of the rainforest climbers is to have developed negative-phototropism. By growing towards the shadiest place the seedlings have a better chance of reaching a tree and being able to lift themselves up off the forest floor and into the light. Now just how shady is it up near the ceiling because it still looks pretty bight in the photo. Who knows maybe the plant did sense that there was no where to go if it kept on that path. Hoya lobbii is not a climber so it will have a limit to the length of it's growths. Perhaps the plant has just reached the limit of it's growth potential for that particular growth. It will be interesting to see what happens when the other growths develop. Mike

Thanks, thedogsLL...I was pretty sure that's what they're doing based on how much castings I have in the bottom bin. Before I changed to a cloth cover, I noticed worms on my lid as well--I think they actually like the condensation and moisture, which is probably why they go down to your bottom bin too. My system is relatively dry, so I have to keep spraying the bedding in my bottom bin to keep it from drying out, which might be what attracts them. Also, can someone describe how big the cacoons are in comparison to castings? I think I've even found some of those in the bottom bin as well. I did quite a bit of "digging" in my main bin today and I already have a lot of castings in it too and noticed that it tends to build up a lot more where I've fed larger quantities of food. So does anyone have a rough idea of how quickly a ten gallon bin with two thousand worms might be ready to harvest the castings? Thanks! BB in FL

Nicholas' book was dated 1937. This is the HMF reference to an abreviated version of the reference. A Rose Odyssey EDIT Book (1937) Page(s) 14. Several years ago there was a discussion in American Rose Society circles about the genuineness of the American stock of General Jacqueminot. I studied the question abroad and found at Reymond's a line of magnificent everblooming General Jacqueminot, descendants of the original stock he had inherited from his Uncle Roussel, the originator. These had been improved almost to the status of a Hybrid Tea (sic) in floriferousness. We acquired enough plants from Reymond to rejuvenate our stock and the General Jacqueminot stock of Jackson and Perkins is of authentic French origin He stated in the book, through propagation in the US, the variety (and many other HPs) ran to rampant, blind growth. Think Dr. Huey suckers with little bloom.

Definitely NOT single by choice! I've found that men are like parking spaces - all the good ones are taken, and the rest are Handicapped or too far away. There certainly is a distinct shortage in this forum!

Remember that "single by choice" can mean any number of things, including but not limited to:

-I've decided that I want to be single for my entire/the rest of my life.

-I've decided to leave a relationship I was in. Therefore I'm single by choice.

-I've chosen to stay single until I meet someone I really want to be with.

It's more like I'm divorced by choice Being single is the end result.Would I ever get married again? I doubt it at my age unless ..... who knows. Guess anything is possible.

Maybe there should be a post for Widows and Widowers. We are single. But not by choice. We would enjoy the conversation with other not by choice singles.

I would be surprised if there were a lot of men posting on this site. Doesn't seem like their thing for the reasons browntoestoo pointed out. I have several single male friends and I have found that they don't much like talking about the single life. Some guys figure, if there's no goal or point to the conversation, why dwell on it.

My brother lives in Germany, I hardly ever see him, and once when he came to visit I invited him to go out with a group of my friends on Friday after work and he declined, saying "I don't want to be the rooster in the hen house!" I was so pissed off at him! Excuse me, my friends just happened to be single women! I wouldn't knock going out with his male buddies! My friends wanted to meet my brother only because they knew he was important to me and they were my friends. He lived in another country, they hardly expected to get set up with him. But I made the mistake of calling it "ladies night out" and that was the end of it for my brother.

Anyway, it is a rare fellow who has the gift of gab and wants to just chat with the ladies. At least that's been my experience. Sometimes that is a great quality, something I love about men, the focus on tasks rather than talk.
