Hilary, it is kind of a long story. I have heard about the CD from another scrapbooking forum. I searched Yahoo shopping for it and found a company called Digital River that had the CD available ($11.95 with S/H). So I placed an order with them, however after about 2 monhts of waiting I cancelled the order. The next thing I have tried was Yahoo auctions. This time it cost me $5.50, but I have not received it yet (it has been less than a week since I sent my check). I am getting a little nervous about it, but I figured, that $5.50 is not that big of the deal if somebody cheats me. I do have the seller name and handle so I will write a review about him if the CD does not come. However, I do have a useful piece of information (you would never guess it, wouldn't you?). There is a web-site called www.dmarie.com and they have collected a lot of information for different dates. There are still many dates missing, but it is free and you can check it out right away. Don't laminate newspaper clippings. There is a lot of lignin and acid in newspaper and laminating traps the chemicals, causing them to deteriorate faster. If you want the look of an original you have a few options: you can spray it with Archival Mist but that's $40 a bottle!- the 40% Michaels coupon might help there, have a color copy made onto acid free paper (printers and copiers have acid-free ink) or you can use a special memoribilia pocket made for scrapbooks. If you still are dead set on using the original clipping and don't want to spend the $ on the Archival Mist spray or memoribilia pocket, I'd suggest using buffered paper for a mat (even double or triple mat it if you can) and not having photos on that page. Buffered paper is supposed to absorb acids and keep them from migrating to the other things on your page, but there's a lot in newspaper. You also want to be sure when you close the book that that page is protected (like in its own page protector) and doesn't touch the facing page. HTH! -Sarah

Tom, Since newspaper is SO acidic, I would get these color copied and use the copies in my scrapbook. This would also help in getting them in a better sized format, by having them enlarge the small ones and shrink the larger ones. Kinkos, (I think ) has copiers that can copy pages the size of a newspaper, if it involves a large amount of the page, and you can then have it copied on to a more managable size reprint, that will fit in your scrapbook. Check for copy places that can copy architect (sp) prints, as they are rather large. Call an architect (sp) office near you and see where they get their plans reprinted. HTH Love Penny

Sometimes these cards are acid free, and you can just use the card directly without any worries what-so-ever, but other times I just spray them with archival mist, if they tested positive for acid. I did find that price was no guarantee for acid quainty either, as some of the more pricey one's had a larger acid content that some I purchase for as little as .50 cents. I have even BOUGHT cards to use as die cuts, when they had an image I was looking for but couldn't find anywhere else. I have found some BEAUTIFUL gold leaves, and flowers to add to my pages this way. Simpily cutting them apart. There are a couple of makers that have images large enough to use as paper dolls: Suzy Zoo cards work great for this, and another maker, (who I can't think of right now) has the PRETTIEST little girls and boys often done in angels that make REALLY cute paper dolls also. I have also used just the verses of some of the cards also, and the whole card when like you it was sent by someone I loved. HTH Love Penny
