I have fisher paykel washer/dryer. LOVE them. No complaints whatsoever. Have not seen a top loading dryer though.

I had one of these at our previous home and absolutely loved it. Never any clean items falling on the floor while unloading like conventional models. Unfortunately, these units were somewhat problematic and have been discontinued.

My daughter just got rid of her Fischer Paykel top loading drying that she had purchased used a couple years ago. The seller was was quite sentimentally attached to the dryer and we almost didnt buy it because he was near tears at having to sell it.
It was kind of nice to load the dryer from her top loading washer. But for a short person it is not that easy to retrieve the dried clothes from the bottom of the drum.
She found that the dryer ran very hot (thermostate may have been faulty) so after shrinking and nearly melting a few items she always used the damp dry setting. She also felt there were way too many setting on the dryer and didnt like having to wait for the dryer lid to unlock any time she wanted to open it while it was running.
She was not sentimental when she let it get hauled away by the appliance store that brought her a new front loading dryer recently.

It does have a lot of settings, which I largely ignore. It runs perfectly. I am tall so I don't find it too hard to get stuff out. Ergonomically, I find it much easier to load.

All these men crying over dryers? LOL

Never seen one. But what I like best is the fact that your repair guy LOANED you a dryer! I'd cook him dinner, buy him a bottle of liquor, tip him big. What a guy!

I know he felt bad. We had been very patient through every repair. I think they had been here 8-10 times, each time pronouncing it fixed. I am so fed up I would buy a new one, but it is so wasteful. I can't donate a malfunctioning dryer -- it is landfill fodder if I don't fix it.

I've never seen or heard of a top loading dryer. Enjoy it while you can! Hopefully your repair guy can finally fix yours.

I am short and cannot reach the bottom of my LG washer...I keep a pair of kitchen tongs handy to retrieve the items, usually socks, I can't reach.

Yep, a good friend of mine has had one since the old days of living in Oz. She was hooked then and has never looked back. They have relocated often and let's just say, a deal to buy their home never includes the washer and dryer.

I highly suggest making your guy an offer he can't refuse...
