In zone 3 I am not sure there are any of the double, large-flowered types like Josephine that are hardy, and even in my zone the early-flowered types usually don't have buds overwinter successfully. So even the doubles in warmer climates bloom a bit later due to needing to grow more flower buds and as singles since for many doubles, only the buds overwintered from the previous year are double. I went to the Clematis on the Web search page and plugged in zone 3, and although their database doesn't have complete hardiness info on all plants, I still got a good list of zone 3 hardy clematis. You may find some of them in nurseries, but since I don't know where you are, I don't have any nurseries to suggest to you; many nurseries don't ship between countries. If you use online nurseries, you can see if they have a zone search function and use that to see if any clematis show up. If your DD has decent grades and does ok on the SAT, I see no reason she shouldn’t thrive in her college of choice and then be admitted into its Nursing program. I hear a lot of ‘nurse talk‘ around our family table when our kids and families get together. One DIL is on the faculty at UAB (teaching undergrad nursing subjects) and is working on her doctorate. She runs across a few undergrads every semester that she advises to consider dropping nursing as a major, as they just don’t ’get it’. I don’t think this is going to happen with your daughter, Mtn. DD is a Nurse Practitioner in the ER, and she teaches one day a week. She has mentored several during their clinicals. She always recommends a new grad with a BSN work at least two years before continuing with their Masters so they can decide exactly what specialty they want to pursue. Clinicals definitely help with this during their final year of undergrad but the work experience is invaluable. If there had been a program available close to home, she probably would have gone to grad school to become a CRNA (Nurse Anesthetist), that’s generally where the bigger paychecks are for nurses. Our other DIL has a BSN and now is a case manager in pediatrics. She was formerly on a pediatric thoracic transplant team. She loved that job but was promoted.

Thanks, everyone. I guess I'm not the only one dealing with this skin thing. Spoke to my daughter today, she's 46 and told her what happened to my arm and how thin my skin has gotten. She said she notices her skin bruises and cuts easier and just seems thinner. The dog I watch weighs about 65lbs and loves coming to stay with me. I love her dearly. But her care is not the greatest. I always had large dogs and always trained them not to jump. We had three Rottweilers all close to 100lbs or over. I made sure they would never jump on me or anyone else. That training starts in puppy-hood. Unfortunately, this dog has had little training. But I adore her and will not say anything to her owner for fear he'd take it out on her. However, her nails are horrible. For some reason they are very sharp and broken causing very sharp, wooden like nails. She just got me without warning. Two weeks ago I was pruning some rose bushes in front of the house when my cell phone (in my back pocket) rang. I turned to answer it and got nailed by a bush. Nasty, bleeding. That is just healing, and now this!. I thought maybe there was some sort of supplement I could take, but I guess its age. Mdln, thank you for that interesting graph. I guess its natural. I had been worried about bruising which happens frequently. I seem to bump my arms into the car doors, cabinets, etc. I now grab an ice pack and put pressure on it to stop the bruising. Obviously, can't have ice packs everywhere you go. Bee, I agree! My hair is so thin especially on the left side where I had Shingles. I can see my scalp and am really thinking of a wig. Its so hot here in Florida, the thought of wearing a wig seems impossible. Thanks again, everyone! Jane
