I am in the process of trying to incorporate seeds received from two huge round robin swaps that just came in into my seed boxes (also photo boxes, with large alph tabs and then smaller ones within the "letter" by variety). I feel overwhelmed, have had to add in two more boxes and shift the letter tabs (who knew so many plants started with "c"??)and have a huge stack of seed packets that I must look up on the internet as I have no idea what they are. But...I also feel rich! Seed rich! While the balance sheet for everything financial in our household is only going one way (south)this wealth of seeds is encouraging and positive! I will start sowing soon, just as soon as I get a better handle on what I've got! Nancy

This has been my project for the past few weeks. I had six moving boxes of photos. I grabbed a box and headed to a friends ceramic shop. By using her shop, I had to sort in a couple of hours and then pack up and not leave it scattered all over the house. I took large manila envelopes with me and have sorted by each child, a basic family group of stuff, photos of me and dh in a previous life (I still am not ready to pitch the wedding photos of the ex). I've now done this with each box and reduced it to two boxes with the envelopes. Last week I took the envelopes with just one of the kids and really started purging those photos. This was dh's first child and he has significantly more shots than the other kids. Looking at these, I'm realizing we are lousy photographers and I don't want 20 pictures take of the same basic shot. One or two will do and then I'm putting some of the doubles in the family envelope. I don't know that I'll ever get them in any type of albums, but I'm finally not feeling like I'm climbing Mt. McKinley when I think of these pictures. I'm just about ready to make the switch to digital, now that we can easily make prints and don't have to buy the special ink jet paper and stuff. It would certainly help eliminate all of those lousy and duplicate shots that I ended up with. Gloria

this is my most recent project, so I feel the need to respond. For the most part I keep my pics in albums: I have one set for me & DH, then I keep one per year for each kid (only two kids!). However, with both of us working (until very recently!) I have gotten sort of backlogged. Finally this weekend I decided to bite the bullet and dive into organizing the cumulation of mountains of pics. I now have three photo storage boxes: one for our albums, one for son and one for daughter. Within each box, I have tabs (to et me caught up, I have Spring/Summer/Fall/Winter for the last two years, plus a Vacation one, an Old PIcs one, and an Extras one. Seems to me that you always end up with photos that really don't rate for albums, but you don't want to throw out. This way I can easily pull for albums, then keep whatever others for later use (graduation stuff, wedding showers, etc) With the tabs it makes "filing" quick and easy. I also have a box with tabs for "To Be Mailed" and "To Be Framed". Whe you mail out notes, makes it much easier to know if you have enough copies of a pic for mailing. These boxes don't take up much space, and for me make organizing pics pretty straightforward. So I still have albums and extra pics, but I just can't bear to part with ALL my photos that don't make the album "cut", KWIM?
