There was already too much stuff on the kitchen table so I took over the screened in porch that no-one but myself and the cats enjoyed anyway. Pretty soon I had empty seed pkgs and potting mix everywhere. And of course always had a kitty or two helping. So I purchased a small hobby GH and my hubby and I put that up. I moved all my trays of seedlings into the GH and the next day went out to check everything and everything was fried....WAAAAA. So I had to start over. Not everything was a waste, some I had moved outside to harden off so they were ok....yea!!!! Then I found the GW, made my day. Everyone is so nice and the treads are a hoot to boot! I don't work anymore as I am recovering from back surgery that was suppose to relieve the constant pain I have....It did'nt work....pain is worse...but the gardening and tending to the plants and seeing them thrive keeps me going. And I come from a long line of gardeners too. I do not clip wings either. We asked my hubbys dad(an old timey farmer who had raised every animal) and did what he said.DO not feed them till you want them in the pen. If they have never been in the pen you may need to lure them there with watermelon or tomatoes or corn or whatever TREAT they like. We have a bamboo duck stick ,NOT for beating but used like a shepherd would. We also find that coming behind them with airplane arms is great for herding them .The first few times get the help of some other animal lover to help in the steering process. We did this and now if we DONT get them put away they come LOOKING for us! Ours go in around supper time to the caged in area where they get watch me pour fresh( egg laying )food in a HUGE flower saucer and add FRESH water to another. Fresh straw is also something they LOVE and come running to! The straw goes in the duck house but we do not lock them into the house til WE are ready for bed or sometime after dark The fenced area has a chicken wire ceiling and is a giant dog kennel. This gives them time to eat .They get at LEAST two hours of eating and drinking time. We LOCK up the duck house for extra protection at night and FIRST thing in the morning let them out. Okay, so this may be off the subject, but I have a cranberry question. Do all cranberries need to be bog grown?? About 1 or 2 years ago I bought a rooted plant off a shopping channel that advertised "no bog needed". It's presently in a pot and has grown about 2-3 inches, but I don't know where to plant it. Living in Michigan, just don't know follow-up. Yes, I've lost the instructions, don't have the exact name of it, and do not presently have a picture to show. It does have long spines (vine-like), had a few small berries last year, and leaves are needle-like and tiny. Any guess so far???
