One of my duties when I worked in the Philadelphia Library was to maintain the clipping file. Every day I read a handful of local papers and clipped articles that might be useful to our patrons or staff. These papers only had a local circulation and were too small to be indexed in any of the major published indexes. This was back in the 70's before we had a computer on every desk and cubby. Retrieving a newspaper or periodical article meant locating the microfiche or microcard and using the appropriate readers. Newspapers in their original form were too fragile for long term storage unless in an archival setting - controlled temperature and humidity, light, dust and pollution free etc. In other words it was a royal P.I.A. - Any clipping that we deemed important was photocopied onto permanent paper - paper that was acid free, lignin free, and tear resistant. Jayne, This is a class on scrap techiques - we will not be making an entire quilt. I have suggested above that you make one block of each technique that I post, print out the directions or save them on your computer and put the block (and directions) in a folder or box for save keeping. Teresa

Teresa, Just wanted to say that I have saved all your information articles... they are very handy reference as they are written. Also, this block is very similar to a block I have done several times, using all scraps and when I completed it,I used it for my guild to give as a baby blanket to one of the agencies they support... I have gotten to the point where I do NOT throw any fabric away.... I love getting the ideas of using up all the piles of fabric. I feel really good when I can use an idea as you have suggested to make quilts. I am working on the shooting star pattern, it is one I have seen and thought it was difficult - until I read your directions!
