One of my duties when I worked in the Philadelphia Library was to maintain the clipping file. Every day I read a handful of local papers and clipped articles that might be useful to our patrons or staff. These papers only had a local circulation and were too small to be indexed in any of the major published indexes. This was back in the 70's before we had a computer on every desk and cubby. Retrieving a newspaper or periodical article meant locating the microfiche or microcard and using the appropriate readers. Newspapers in their original form were too fragile for long term storage unless in an archival setting - controlled temperature and humidity, light, dust and pollution free etc. In other words it was a royal P.I.A. - Any clipping that we deemed important was photocopied onto permanent paper - paper that was acid free, lignin free, and tear resistant. Thank you for all your kind comments. This is a row quilt that I saw as an ad and used it for inspiration. I used the courthouse step block to establish how wide it would be. The patchwork rows are about 10" deep. All the blocks are 3-4" and if you look closely mainly 3 strips sewed together, cut and turned different ways. I was recovering from an illness when I made this...wasn't feeling up to doing much but could putter around with this. My quilt friends helped me put it together and get it finished for our annual quilt show. It certainly was no prize winner but was a good conversation piece. Now I am so interested in Teresa's scrap quilts and she has so many wonderful ideas that I want to make one of each. I look forward to seeing what everyone makes. Jean

Linda...the flowers are sold by scrapbooking companies...I know my daughter sells them...I don't know why you couldn't use a reg. one...if you pulled out the center. Unless the hole is too big...they attach them with brads. They have all different colors of brads. I found a book at a thrift store (it's orginal price was about 35 dollars..) It is full of page ideas. I'm sure you can get something like that or find page ideas online.
