My fabricator picks up the slabs as part of his service. The fabricators have the equipment and expertise to move slabs. Just make sure that there is enough material in the slabs for what you need - in case the slab breaks or is damaged along the way.

Costa Esmerelda is not one of the stones I carry but did some checking if you were able to get these stone at $300 a slab that would be a good buy. I am assuming you are referring to The Europa Stone Auction in Va. You are talking 44 Sq. Ft. per slab that puts your cost at 6.73 a sq. ft. This stone sells for $14-$22 a sq. ft. depending on quality of stone. You would be looking to save between $300 to $600 a slab. If it is the Europa Stone auction I am fairly certain that you will have use of the forklift they are auctioning off to load the slabs. That is the good news, now for the bad. You will have only one day to get the stones picked up just like everyone else. You will have everyone trying to load at the same time. Finding a fabricator to wait maybe a couple of hours (waiting his turn) will be a hard sell. My suggestion is that you also bid on one of the sets of A-Frames they are auctioning (should not cost more that $20-$30). You said you have a trailer, use the A-frame and some ratchet straps (good heavy duty ones) and load and move yourself. The equipment to load is there and the fabricator you decide on will have the equipment to unload. Good Luck. Ps if it is this auction I will be bidding on some of the equipment but not the slabs.

it's an advertising site with links, I guess the links to all the different british manufacturers/retailers could be useful as far as looking at pictures. I would recommend www.homeportfolio.com for an attractive american site that links you to suppliers, I've been using it for years.
