Where are you all??

I found this board the other day while looking for scrapbooking stuff on-line. It has been very helpful.

I moved to the USA almost 3 months ago and I don't know my area that well. I am living in Glen Ridge NJ about 30mins drive west of NYC.

The only scrapbooking I have done was at two CM's demonstrations/party's. I scrapbooked my school ball photos.

I am going to be in the USA for a year and I really want to make a scrapbook of my photos/my adventures here. The problem is I haven't been able to find any good stores that stock alot of supplies.

I have ordered some CM templates and paper. But would like to know if anyone was around my area that knew of any good places to find supplies.

As you can see from my signature, I'm in NH. Where are you originally from??

If you have a Michael's around your area, they have a pretty good supply (although not nearly as good as an actual scrapbook store).

Also, we have a small toy store here in town that carries quite a bit of Mrs. Grossman's stickers - a better supply than I've seen in some craft stores! So, look around - you'd be surprised at where you can find things. :)

I am actually originally from Australia.

So don't think I dumb but where is NH??

Scrapbooking is just starting there so I am happy to get stuff here before I go home next year.

I started my lil' collection this year at Kmart (aka Sears Essentials in some places) - which happens to be where I work. They've had 2 full shipments so far this year of indoor plants with a bigger variety to chose from compared to previous years. The key is: keep an eye out and purchase the plants as soon as they get them in. Otherwise, you are looking at seriously nursing an almost dead plant back to life. :( So far I have a nice sized sansevieria (mother-in-law's tongue), spathiphyllum (peace lily), and a free Majesty Palm that my mom is trying to nurse back to health (if it dies, oh well, it was free and was heading for the dumpster anyway). I was too late on nabbing an aloe plant they had with the succulent batch (we only got 3 in shipment), but that's ok. Tomorrow, I'm checking out some of the names of new plants we got in, research online first, then buy if they fit my indoor spots to fill. Otherwise, also check terrarium/aquarium websites because sometimes they sell indoor plants as well - to go with their captive pets. I want to talk about the things blooming for me and share my secret hiding place! During the summer this lil waterhole about 300 yards from my door dries up, but the rest of the time the water trickling and the laptop can be VERY RELAXING stting there on my big rock! Here are some pics of some of the things I've got blooming. I still have several different kinds of daffodils that will be blooming and tulips will be blooming soon as well! I LOVE THESE! They start out yellow, changing to peach as they mature. The next photo shows this beauty fully opened and mature. AHHHHH The smell of hyacinths! Mmmmmm

Where do you keep all of your sink stuff?

Since you are planning your sink, I want to share my review of my new sink setup. I love my tapmaster, although I think it really only makes sense if you also have another hot/cold water faucet either at a different sink or as a hot/cold drinking water faucet at the same, which -- the latter -- we have and love. I cannot imagine reaching down below the sink to get detergent when my hands just touched raw meat. For that reason, I really like our countertop soap dispenser (and the tapmaster). I'm using the built in tilt out to store sponges and brushes. It's very easy to take out for cleaning if needed to. Small volume, but it takes the loose items off the counter. There is plenty of ventilation through the door bumps that the sponges dry out fast. I like it, but you do need to be aware that it limits how forward you can bring your sink; in other words, you need to plan for them. I have a regular sink base and a Blanco sink, and I didn't haven to make any modifications. I know reviews on tapmaster, countertop soap dispenser, and tilt out trays are all mixed. I happen to like all of them.

When I was born and came home from the hospital, I was introduced to my first SMALL HOUSE. 900 and something sf 3 bedroom 1 bath in a tract neighborhood. This was home to my mother, father and 3 siblings. I lived there until I moved out and into a SMALL rental HOUSE. From there, a banker friend I worked with and I decided to build a new SMALL HOUSE. 3/2, 1,400 sf, nice, new, loved it. He started dating, then married one of my former girlfriends so he bought me out and I moved on. I bought an older SMALL HOUSE, 2/1, large lot, haunted. Yes, haunted. Sounds unbelieveable and I am not prone to things that go bump in the night but if you spent any time in this house you would be a believer. Sold that. Bought a lot and designed then built a 2/2 about 1,100 sf. This was a perfect SMALL HOUSE for me. The local economy took a turn for the worse (1988/1989) I was working on commission and had to sell the house and move back in with my parents temporarily. Unable to find a job in Florida, I packed my car and moved to South Carolina. I rented a SMALL apartment, met my wife and she moved in. From there to a slightly larger SMALL apartment, then we bought our marital home, 3/2 1,500 sf. Although it was just a run of the mill, older 3/2 with a one car carport, it was great neighborhood and I loved living there. My two sons were raised there. It had a den and a formal living room. We rarely used the living room, in fact, most of the time, it never even had furniture in it so in reality, we actually lived in about 1,300 sf of that SMALL space. Divorce took me to another SMALL apartment and from there to my current SMALL home. 3/1, 1024 sf. Oh, I too had a lover in AR. "Had" means she made other choices too and that still hurts. New Hampshire (NH) is in New England - the upper north east corner of the country. :)

Welcome to the US! I've always dreamed of going to Australia -- it must be beautiful there. I hope you like it here!

Hi Felicity, and I hope you enjoy your stay in the USA. I'm 'way down in Louisiana, one of the southernmost states. not far from the Gulf of Mexico.

As for the scrapping, I get my supplies at the oddest places...I found a lot of things at "Dollar Tree" - very cheap, as everything's $1 - and WalMart has a decent selection at times. Other than that, all craft stores carry most everything you would need.

What a terrific idea, taking back a scrapbook of your USA days. Have fun while you're here. (My sister just returned from a trip to Australia/New Zealand - said it was a lovely country.)

Hi, I am from Tn, which is the lower part of the US more on the east side. I don't have one in my area but there have been some good buys at Joanne's Fabric stores and I read another post yesterday about Big Lots having a great buy on rubber stamps lately. I have to second the dollar tree for great prices. Penny

Here's a link to the Creating Keepsakes magazine site. Most places that carry scrapbooking supplies carry CK magazine so they include a store locator on their site. You may be surprised at where you find stores! Good luck and happy scrappin'!
