I 'think' I have an answer...It is not a good deal for anyone who is savvy about grocery prices, and buying and stocking what is on sale.

Here I have 'guestimated' some of the 'best' prices I know of on the bigger meat items

(1) 1.5 lb. Boneless Pork Roast (Whole pork tend can be bought for $2 or less, so this would be about $3
(1) 2 lb. Fully Cooked Frying Chicken available all of the time for $4
(1) 2 lb. Salsbury Steak Entree-$4 maybe, just depends upon what it is made with, ground beef, ground round, or cubed steak, etc
(1) 2 lb. Boneless/Skinless Chicken Breast-$4 max
(1) 1 lb. Flame-Broiled Meatballs- $2 again it depends upon what it is made with

I'm clueless on the price of the bacon wrapped filets, because it isn't something I'd buy.

Most of the rest of the items can be bought for a dollar and some for even a lot less, except maybe the peanut butter (1.29), and the 24 OZ french fries.

I would go for it. The bacon wrapped filets are expensive. We have bought them before. This not only sounds like a good deal but it is also helping others. Jackie

The bacon wrapped fillets are not fillet mignon but a much cheaper cut that has been injected with a tenderizing marinade.
Anyway, I have often looked at the menu but never bought anything from them because I don't eat much processed food or the foods often offered.
I think it's good deal if you have a big family and not much time to comparison shop. Which takes a lot of time for me. You end up going to one store and they are out of stock, so you get a rain check you have to keep up with...
I do comparison shop but if I get really busy I don't as much for little items.

Yes, I must agree. I do imagine if someone was paying full retail prices for the items, that there would indeed be substantial savings.

It's hard to tell without seeing a list of ingredients, but it seems there's an awful lot of heavily-processed food there: the Salsbury (sic) steak, the meatballs, the pasta sauce, the mac & cheese, the popcorn chicken, the 4-4-4 special, ... I'm guessing the fat, sodium, and carb counts on these are through the roof.

Yes, my thoughts as well. Convenience does come oftentimes with an unhealthy price tag...as seen by so many fast and/or convenient foods.

I could see this as being beneficial for someone like my mom. At 89, she really won't cook for herself, so I'm not so much concerned about the unhealthy factor because she will just drive to McDonald's. As more of us boomers are living farther away from aging parents, this type of service could be a good option. There was a company whose ad I pulled out of Victoria years ago and ordered meals for my mom. She said they were really good, but it was very expensive. The food was air shipped overnight and most of it was fresh and needed to be eaten within the week. I never could find them online, but it was a company someone had started because she was actually cooking meals for her own parents and mailing them.

Not a good deal in my area. Meat was terrible. Can get better deals by shopping smart and then it is groceries I like. Guess I am too picky but I couldn't eat the bloody frozen ribs. Steaks were so tough I gave them to the dog.

Not a good deal moneywise and a diet of what they are offering is horrible.

You could eat cheaper AND healthier by buying fresh veggies and occassionally buying chick or pork on sale. Make everthing from scratch and you will know exactly what is going into you food AND you will save money.

If you don't care to eat raw veggies get a wok and make some fabulous stirfry. Make quiches. Pickle and marinate them. Do veggie casseroles. Cooking is FUN.

No, luann, that wasn't it. The meals came with veggies and bread as well as desert. Mom said they were really good, but it's been 10 years since I ordered them for her.

As for cooking being fun--nah! Not fun for me and I do it every day of the year. It's right up there with doing the laundry and washing windows.

Not for everyone, Bud. I like to cook, though I find it really easy to find excuses not to when it's just me I'm cooking for. And it's not "fun" when everyone is enduring the "witching hour" waiting for you to finish cooking whatever it is after you, too, have finished a long day at the office. And there are some people who just don't know how.
