help with seventy 'wishes'

Hi -

I really need you great people to help me on my latest project. I am putting together a birthday album for my Dad who is turning 71. I have written to friends and family and asked them to send "roasts" and "toasts" to put in - as well as any photos or memories they wanted to share.

Now that I am putting the thing together - I'd like to be able to have 71 birthday wishes for him. I'm thinking of one "wish" per page - like: Good Health (maybe with dr stickers or a border of fruits and veggies.

But what I need are some more ideas - I have about 20 is all and now I'm stuck. Please help - they can be silly - funny, serious, whatever - but anything will help tremendously!

How about the following: New Car, Best Friends, Great Job, Nice Pet, World's best son or daughter, 1st grandchild, Marry a good cook-picture of him and your mom, Long life, Time to Relax-with his favorite sport or hobby, Nice home or apartment, simple pleasures, etc. Penny

First ... absolutely FIRST! Make sure you have a sound roof, no leaks. rhome, some of your suggestions make me wonder where my head has been! They are so elegantly simple, but so not something I had considered! Keep those cards and letters coming! bmore, over the last six months we have measured, re-measured, read, cogitated, consulted with architects, plumbers, interior decorators, friends, neighbors, and winos off the street. There is no place for the laundry to go but where it is without incuring more expense than we are ready to take on. The center of the range is currently 63" from the wall next to the MBR door. It does not need to stay exactly where it is. Just generally on that wall. The same with the sink. The center of the sink is 31.5" from the laundry closet wall. It does not need to stay exactly where it is. It just needs to stay somewhere on the wall where it currently is. Again, thank you for your interest and for your suggestions and insights. Keep prodding me. It is helping me look at the problems with a new prespective. I think I've lost sight of the forest for the trees.

I would not do plaster again. It was so mottled, plus it cracked, that I tore it out after 2 yrs. I have brand new 1 day old pebble sheen and so far, I LOVE it. I would not use a busy mosaic tile. I replaced mine with simple pool blue midcentury square tiles. I would not rush the design as stated above. I had a highly qualified landscape architect help me with the remodel and it looks fabulous (I think). I lengthened my pool to a 60 ft. long lap pool. I am glad that I paid the extra $ for this.

I don't know how far along you are in the process, but I know what you mean that the wishes are hard to write down. I've thought of something similar for my dad's upcoming birthday : 66 Reasons Why We Love You. It's a little easier to come up with items simply because I'm drawing from the past and the present. For example: I love you...for making my doll furniture when I was 7...for letting me learn to drive with your new car...for being a good provider...for being so understanding when I was a teenager....for letting me have a beagle....for "re-learning" about babies when your granddaughters came along..for taking care of mom...etc. There are literally hundreds of memories to draw upon, so it might be easier to come up with memories than wishes. Just a thought. Good luck to you. I'm sure your father will treasure the album
