Comments (6)Here's another point of view from someone who went with a counter height set that is open to the kitchen. We were at a friend's home one evening when we were just planning our new home build. It was a casual get-together with wine & cheese, beer and pizza. They had an island in the kitchen with a counter height table set adjacent to it. Everyone gathered in that area and had a place to sit to eat. Since we were all on the same level, it was easy for a group of people to be connected, while still having that informal feel. Because it's so easy to just step off the counter height chairs (counter - not bar height)it was also much easier for people to mill around the area to grab an appetizer or replenish a drink compared to raising oneself up and down from a regular seating height table. The atmosphere just seemed very casual and relaxed. On the way home that night I told DH I had decided to go counter height. For the way we live and entertain, it just works for us....See Morebreakfast nook? what to do with chandelier?

Perfectly paired with a crystal chandelier or flush mount for an opulent look, or standing in contrast with a contemporary interior, its versatility makes it a flexible addition to any interior. We love the way the light refracts through the crystal detail and the staggered square base, which features layers of both crystal and metal to ensure a sturdy foundation....See More- 9 years ago
