With the weather we are having lately, I don't see this as a good time to plant much of anything in the garden -- tomatoes, and really just about anything else. It's been hot and dry, and now the high and constant winds (at least in my area) are adding yet more stress on any and all plants in the garden. Heck, even the coneflowers I planted a week or so ago on a whim are having to be watered every other day just to keep them alive until they can manage to lock in. Even some bulbine I divided a couple of weeks ago wants water. Bulbine is usually plant it and forget about it... Don't mean to discourage you, but this is not the time to plant out tomato transplants, imo. Last yr, you might have gotten away with it, but looks like we are back to the usual inferno-like late springs and summers for now. If you want to give something a go anyway, do a cherry type, and give it a fair amount of shade. Some roma/paste types may also be able to possibly set better in the heat, but your best chance is likely going to be with cherry types. With the weather we are having, 4-5 hours full sun, or dappled sun most of the day is good. No more than that is really necessary at this time. Or use shadecloth, or put in a large container at the edge of the canopy of a tree. In a hot yr here before, I've even grown plants under the deep overhangs of my house, where they got little direct sun, and the plants did great. Our seedstarting time for fall crop will be here soon. I usually try to have good sized transplants ready around Aug 1, so usually start seeds the second or third week of June or so. You may want or be able to tweak this a bit since you are in a zone 9. You'll get/find varying advice on when to plant out and/or start for fall crop, but this is what usually works for me. TAMU (I think) recommends setting out fall transplants sometime in July, but IMO, that is kind of early (too early). And then some may even wait as late as Sept 1 to set out fall fransplants, especially further south in Texas. And as others have mentioned, you can take cuttings and root them for fall crop. Hope this helps somewhat. :-)

Thanks, everybody. I don't know how I've lived so long and not heard of this miracle stuff! I think I've posted the following question before, but I'm going to try again: I want to make a pattern from my mother's Wise Men wall-hangings, but they're made of felt pieces glued to each other, and when I tried to separate them, they tore. I want to keep the originals intact, so if I had to ruin them to make the pattern, I wouldn't do it. Someone at JoAnn's said to put parchment paper over them and outline them, but I don't know what she really meant. Parchment paper is pretty thick, if it's the same kind I use for lining cookie sheets. Is there another kind? Does anyone have a better idea? chery2

In my short quilting life, I have found that I do not like making the same block over & over many times. I much prefer sewing different blocks ~ the variety of a "design"made up from different blocks and borders, but I am not a fan of "samplers". I love to Paper Piece, I don't mind machine applique....Hand work is hard on my hands and elbows, so I probably will never learn to hand applique - but maybe someday. My time is so limited to sew, everything is sewn by machine. I'm still in the learning stage, although many things have become automatic, I still have to think alot about what I am doing! I try to challenge myself in every quilt.

We have the Silgranit single bowl, right sided drain in Metallic Grey. LOVE it. Moen Arbor Motionsense faucet centered, soap to right and disposer air switch on far right. If food bits don't all go down I just use the pull-down sprayer and spritz out the sink. The sink is slightly angled down toward the drain so it seems to work fairly well. I made the decision to go with the Silgranit after lurking here on Garden Web for months and I am so glad I took the advice of the many wise contributors. I had purchased another faucet but changed my mind and am so happy with the Motionsense. It is amazing... Good luck!
