I Think that mosaic is lovely, my only concern is that it's going to blend in to the cabs and appliances a bit more than I'd personally like. It will definetly 'go', though, and help unify your space. There may even be enough of those sparkely tiles to give the 'pop' it needs.

could you get a sheet sample and tack it up for a visual; my first impression is that it would work very well, the colors are strong enough to tie in your different tones, wood, granite, appliances.

try to look at finished kitchens with that type of mosaic backsplash, the lighter color tiles are the ones that will pop and stand out, in a random pattern

How about printing out several sheets on a color copier, trying to get the tile size the same as it really is, and taping them up on your backsplash. I did this with my backsplash and it really helped to see what it would look like...both colors and tile pattern.

If you're looking for someone to photoshop it for you, try posting on the home decorating forum - there are a lot of photoshoppers there!! HTH.

I love your tile choice! Perhaps, though, you might want to replace about 1/3 to 1/2 of the black tiles with a slightly lighter tone in order to soften it just a bit?

You guys are so kind; I don't know how to thank you. It is amazing how I can visualize it now. And now, I am scared that it is overwhelming.

I'll show one more photo of the rest of my house and maybe someone could tell me if it clashes. I'll also put up two more backsplashes if anyone so has the inclination to do a couple more mock up photos. But man, you guys are so nice.

i think the stainless is by far your best option. you have so many warm tones in your space between all the natural wood, the brick, the cherry cabinets...you need something cooler on your backsplash to push/pull against all those warm elements.

your condo is gorgeous by the way. great floors, great brick, great timber beams. love it.

(ps...try a mockup of one of the slates)

I think SS will be too expensive for us. I am looking to stay in 20 bucks a sq ft and we have 20 sq ft. Here are two metals I've found from costco. The price is very right. Does anyone know about the durability of metal, esp. the copper? I am really interested in that. I don't know if it would clash with the SS appliances, though.

I have to say, I don't like the stainless. But...I assumed these were 4x4 tiles and I did the mockup somewhat based on that. If they are a different size, let me know and I'll adjust it. Also, when you do a mockup that has something lit the way that SS tile is, it looks like a patchwork quilt so this is obviously not the way it would actually look.

Okay, I freakin' LOVE that copper backsplash. DANG, I wish I'd seen that when I was doing my kitchen. And no, I don't think it will clash with the stainless appliances. I have stainless and ORB fixtures/hardware and lots of copper touches in my kitchen. Here's your copper...

OMG. Is that the costco one? YOu are my hero; I think I just found the right candidate. If you wouldn't mind, I am going to take a better picture of my kitchen on real camera later today. Could you photoshop just one more time? I am so sorry! That way I'll now before I commit. But I think I just found my tile. I just have to see if it is durable. I read somewhere that it gets dull (copper flashing, that is; is this copper flashing?).

Alright, this give me incentive to clean.

My 2 cents says both of those splashes ARE overwhelming. IMO, it would look softer with a lighter splash there. From the picture you posted, your kitchen and surroundings appear to be dark, and lightening it up may be just what you need.

While I'm not fond of the last mock-up that nasalak made, I can already tell a lighter splash looks better. Perhaps you need one that isn't so busy with tiny tiles.

It appears as though there is so much variation in the color/patina that it would bring a mix of finishes (SS, copper, ORB, brushed nickel) together nicely. Fabulous! I vote for that one!

Yes, I'd be happy to do it again with a clearer picture. I don't know about how it will hold up, I didn't even read the description. I just cropped out that little copper picture and stuck it on. Now I'm trying to figure out where I can put some of that copper in my own home! Great find!

I vote for rmlanza's last one (tiny copper tiles; from Costco?). I like the others a lot too though.

One minor suggestion (and I'm not the decorating pro here, and bow to the superior knowledge of anyone who says it won't be right): can you sneak in a few red tiles in random places? Check out nuccia's kitchen (posted about a month ago) -- silver/navy Costco tiles, just stunning.

Another vote for the copper--looks great!! Please post any information you find out about it.

Yes, tiles are from costco at 169 for 11 sq ft. I have no idea how many sq ft I have (don't even know how to estimate), but maybe I have 20 or so? Who knows.

Anyway, I will be sure to post details as I go. I haven't made the final decision yet, but I am really leaning toward the copper. I'll probably post a general thread to see how people like their copper (if it is easy to clean, if it dulls, etc.).

Of those posted, I like the copper the best as well. But I wonder if you could find one in a 4x4 for your budget.

I agree the copper shows that a lighter BS may be just what you need.

Well the only red KA item I have sitting out now is my teapot. The red kind of clashes with my new dark terra cotta colored walls. But I have the red knives and pots (in drawers), used to have the soap dispenser (have a built in one now) and the drainboard (don't use it anymore). I also have the little red handy chopper thing (in a cabinet)and two potholders (drawer) and a few other things I can't think of. Oddly, my KA stand mixer is orange (tangerine)!

I agree that the lighter (copper?) one looks the best. Brightens your kitchen and really pops. One question... if you're concerned about cleaning (REAL copper?) then why not consider a light copperish color glass tile? You now know that the color combination is what you love. There are tons out there.

Has anyone seen those Costco copper tiles in person? They look amazing in pictures, but I'd love to see a sample in real life? I have a copper sink, and this might be a good fit in my kitchen!
