Fireplace wall and large screen TV
Comments (24)Lyds, Thank you. The tv is recessed in a niche we put in during construction. DH picked out tv width and we went from there. We'll never do one larger, but there is a little room on each end and even more top/bottom. I went from trying to find an antique folding screen to having a four panel folding screen made using wallpaper but never found the perfect pattern. I ordered a screen from Gump's and the colors were horrible when it arrived. TWO years I tried to come up with a solution and FINALLY I wake up in the middle of the night and it came to me! TxGal, Thanks! I had a thread on Decorating but I can't locate for whatever reason. It was custom. They made the shutter into a door to hide the tv equipment and DVDs also. It's on sliders. I have no idea who they ordered them from. The sliders are attached to 2"x2" strips of wood. They built the sliding panels sort of box-like in that the side/top/bottom are to the wall. In other words, when you're coming in the front door you see the side of the panel and it looks like a wide picture molding. slc2053, we don't have a problem with glare since the house faces south and we have a deep veranda. Also have window film across the back side of house. Comments (37)When DD went to off to college last year, she took our LR TV which was something like 17" or so. We rarely watch TV in our house. When I replaced that TV, I did go up in size, but only to a 32" Samsung. Great picture and best size for our LR. LR is 15'x21', and when I first gave in and put a TV in that room, I did not want an entertainment center in my LR. After an exhaustive search for something that was not manufactured expressly as a TV stand, I found a nice black painted piece with a top drawer and 5" double doors under the drawer - use as a spot to hide the DVDs we have. The piece definitely isn't a TV stand per se, but I love it in my LR. When I had to replace the TV last Fall, I specifically chose one that didn't overwhelm my piece. I shopped much more for the quality. Those huge TVs would be a waste in our home. Just last night on the way home from dinner out, we drove around a bit to look at the holiday lights/decorating in our area. Some of the homes had TVs that were so were big, DH & I were commenting about how we could literally watch TV sitting in our car at the curb. The bigger concern would be the quality of the TV, as previous posters have outlined for you, what to look for in a good TV. Personally, I hate when the enormous TV overtakes a room and becomes the focal point. JMHO...See MoreAny ideas on how to decorate this console table under our TV?
Comments (37)I may get another mirror table top but I still need the big mirror for my hair and things. a lil mirror will not do just for my makeup etc. I always said the writting desk was going to be use as vanity and act as a area you can use for your laptop. I agree with the console table. I am thinking about doing like a rectangular gold dish and a orchid plant. I wanted him to place the TV at that height just in case I was going to add some type of tall vase or pillars candles....See MoreIs this media console going to be too small for TV?
Comments (16)@Salina its unfortunately a very small wall, that’s why we are painting the wall and ceiling the same color, per our color consultant. Ive been looking around but having trouble finding real wood without veneer, made in the USA, over 70 inches but also small enough to be able to fit a small piano to the left side, with doors and shelving, and 3k or under. If you have any suggestions, please let me know! At this point though, I can get a 55” TV instead of the 65” that’s taped up. Its just for the kids and their video games, not for big movie viewing. So hard to find quality furniture nowadays that doesn’t break the bank. 😬 Edit: Everything I read online says 25% larger for console table or 3 inches of overhang on each side. So I was thinking a 74” console would be okay with the 65” TV because the width is actually 57.2” not 65”. My blue tape may be off haha....See Morejoaniepoanie
