"...corner susans...don't quite look like the rest of the kitchen..." Huh???? They looked just fine in our old kitchen w/partial overlay doors. Our lazy susan was the only thing in our kitchen that looked and performed as well at demo as it did at installation 13 years earlier. I wholeheartedly recommend corner susans. As to stuff falling off, if your cabinets are made so the back and side walls closely follow the contour of the round shelves, there are no problems. However, I don't know if all cabinetmakers, especially small custom shops, are able to (or willing to) make them that way. We had that kind (curved walls) in our old kitchen w/builder-grade cabinets...and that susan was great! It held all our pots & pans, colanders, cake & pie tins, and various serving pieces. Everything was in front...you simply rotated the susan, the doors rotated inside, and you stopped where the item you wanted was...and it was right in front of you...no digging around for things. Nothing ever fell off. The hardware worked smoothly the entire 13 years. No taking up aisle space in front of the cabinet when open. No door-banging b/c the door was attached to the susan (like Marcolo's picture). Be aware that if you store smaller items on a blind corner pullout and something falls off, you will have to crawl inside to retrieve the item b/f you will be able to close it. My KD strongly discourages blind corner cabinets b/c of all the complaints she's gotten from customers who insisted on them and then later regreted them. (I thought they looked "cool" the first time I saw them and asked about them. After she showed me how they work, told me about the pitfalls, and told me about all the complaints she's gotten, we decided not to get one.) Other good uses of corners: Drawers (Plllog's kitchen) Corner sink bases (b/c under sink storage is usually poor so you combine them to give you better storage everywhere else.) Installing a 27" or 30" cabinet and turning it 90 degrees to face the back side of the corner...but this only works if the back side is open, like in a peninsula. Yes, some people love their blind corner units, but, to me, they're a "last resort" option...only if absolutely nothing else works. YMMV

I wish I'd seen those before we built. Merillat didn't have that option but we could have installed it ourselves. We have the double trash pullout for recyclables, but I forgot that CT has bottle deposit so instead of newspapers one gets used for soda cans. Trash is under the sink. But I may change out the 18" double trash pullout to pullout drawers and replace the LS in the corner with a 3-4 bin trash/recycle when we get new countertops in a few years! Does anybody know if you have to pull the countertop off to get these in, or is there a telescoping rod with a cotter pin that can just be pulled out? Also, the inside of my corner cabinet is curved - is that a problem for the bins?

depends on what you mean by the back set moving forward. In one version of the MC, (I forget if it is MC I or MCII) the front set of baskets moves forward (out of the cabinet) and to the side automatically when you open the door,because it is attached to the door. In the other version, which I have, you open the door and then manually pull the front set of baskets forward and to the side. IN both ersions, when the front set is pulled forward out of the cabinet, the back set is pulled to the side, so that it now sits where the front set used to --in other words just inside the cabinet behind the open door. If that's what you mean by pulling it forward, yes, it should do that. In neither version, however, does the back set automatically pull out of the cabinet. You need to do that manually.

See attached pics of my corner drawers. I like the idea and the functionality, but the cabinet itself is a little wonky. (The drawers aren't aligned well and they don't have adjustment options, there's a gap between the two faces on each drawer.) My GC and I spent the last two days adjusting cabinets and installing handle hardware and he fought with those drawers a lot and they're still not completely aligned. (I have the Belmont 1900 series, so they weren't cheap, either.) (Although you can definitely tell in the close up, now that we've spent some time on them, they probably look fine from farther away. Both my GC and I are sort of perfectionists, which means both that we work well together and that there's no one to step in as the voice of reason when something is actually fine. Heh.) They work great though and I probably would get them again vs. other options, but I'd take a closer look at quality. (One thing that no one really mentioned to me about buying material is that a component that's less expensive to purchase might end up being more expensive overall if it is significantly harder to install.) Obviously whether or not that would work would depend on the house layout.
