What do you buy from QVC???

I now look more selective at QVC, as there is so much on the market now. I did get some good storage items about a year ago, but even though there are really good buys--I still like to see (in person) what I buy

What did you see, that you have bought that is really a goodby???

I do all my Christmas Shopping from QVC. I try to watch for the special pricing, like the days special value. Since I'm handicapped, going shopping is a painful process. This way I take all year and I have a good time doing it. I also pay for it all year instead of one huge payment when I don't want one. By paying off my QVC bill each month, I don't have to worry about a large bill mounting nor pay high interest. I pay no interest. Of course I carry a lot of the stuff with me on my yearly visit North (from FL) to Virginia. I can also have all my grandkids stuff shipped to my daughter and she wraps it. Good deal there, huh?

One of the items I like from there is Wacky Tack. I use that stuff all over my house. Leaves no residue and is repositionable. I have every kind they make. I put my Christmas cards up with the tape and just "blap" them on the wall somewhere. I leave notes for my husband on the door, pantry or wherever. I keep a grocery list inside the pantry and when I go shopping, I can reposition it on the scooter in the store. Works like post-it notes, but is much cheaper in the long run.

Today I got a good deal on Valerie Parhill's candles. A special sale on 3 boxes of 3 soy candles in jars. 9 candles all different. Each one burns 42 hours. I also got an interchangeable wreath. One wreath with 8 plates for the seasons and birthday, Americana, etc., and 4 banners, like Peace on Earth, Welcome, etc. My Christmas shoppping has begun.

I have bought a few items.... usually for my work like a computer or projector. Over all, the items have been really good. I do suggest to use this site... http://www.zestbit.com/writerrighter/view/QVC_2C00_-QVC-Coupons.aspx
When I have to buy a $1000 projector it's nice to be able to save money.

I think inspection is the key. Check 'em out, check 'em out, & check 'em out. I've gotten iris from growers, walmart, plant swaps, iris shows, mail-order nurseries, garage sales, & my mother. Only once, years ago when I first started, have I had a problem (& I still think it was the weird weather that year rather than an infestation.) It never hurts to dip a new addition in a weak bleach solution & let it dry before planting. (and get all the iris you can from everyone everywhere) Best luck & have fun! sylvia

Yep! I ordered the Heritage package. I have been trying to get all of the old black & white photos in albums & this looked like it could be a big help. We're "doing" our family tree & it is so fun to get the really old photos out for display!!

When buying directly from an owner, what lawyer do you use?

We are under contract on our house and did FSBO. In our case the broker the buyer used did not have any lawyers down where we were. So I got to pick one out. But normally you get a list of lawyers to pick from that they work with. A purchase agreement was difficult. No lawyer really wanted to do one. The ones that said they would were 400.00. One even said specifically she would not. That she did not want to help a FSBO taking income away from realtors.

There are SO many wonderful daylily farms out there - one reason I personally would not buy from QVC is that I would not be completely sure I was getting the named variety I was promised. Another reason is that all these wonderful farms depend on continued business to stay open, like rose people discourage buying from "big box" stores in favor of rose nurseries, to help them stay in business. I have ordered from quite a few rose and daylily nurseries this year [more than I should!]. If there is a particular daylily you want, google it - you will find a list of farms that carry it. Also, I really enjoy The Lily Auction online. LOTS of great daylilies and great prices! I have bought very expensive lilies for a fraction of their cost, and they sell seeds so you can raise your own. I have known Jack Carpenter for years { I cherish his huge diploids, no one else breeds those like he did]. Mark is a worthy heir - SUCH a nice friendly guy and will go overboard to earn your business. He is putting in a nursery that carries other kinds of plants, opening March 2. Well worth the trip! He digs huge fans, super healthy plants and gives daylily gifts with purchase. Other farms do this too....something QVC doesn't do. I have found so many great daylily farms just by googling a particular lily. Just ordered from Tom Kearst Gardens for some particular lilies I wanted......
