Can you recommend a good magazine?

I haven't done any scrapbooking, but my teenage granddaughter tried her hand at it for a Christmas gift and did a lovely job. I'd like to get her a subcription to a scrapbooking magazine. I saw several offered on eBay, but I don't know which to pick. I figured you folks could steer me in the right direction.

I subscribe to Simple Scrapbooks and find a lot of good ideas in it. I have a softcover book that I refer to everytime I work on a page--Creating Keepsakes, A Treasury of Favorites. Title: Scrapbook Tips and Techniques. $16.96 I got it at Michael's with a 40% off coupon.

I'll be watching this thread for more ideas. Have fun with your granddaughter and her scrapbooking projects.

I like the Creating Keepsakes magazine. I look at it at the library.

I second that their books are wonderful. I have the one called "Creating Keepsakes- Award Winning Scrapbook Pages".

Sorry to have to disagree with a number of these posts, but in my opinion Bob Wine's nursery is absurdly overpriced. I would estimate that their prices are double what other nurseries in the area charge. Unfortunately most of the really fine old-line camellia nurseries in North Central Florida are long gone, but you can still find some good plants at good prices if you look on Craigs List after the first of the year. Most of these small nurseries are 75 to 100 miles north of Ocala, but I'm sure there are growers in all directions.

Can You Recommend A Good Shower Unit for a Small Space?

Thanks, hollysprings. I was drawn to the idea of a one-piece unit over tile in large part because of the ease of cleaning. No housekeeper here - just me! If we were to go with tiled walls for the shower, is there a particular grout or method of sealing that you would recommend for easy cleaning. The last time I had tile in the bathroom was in our first apartment 36 yrs. ago. It was a nightmare to maintain.

Also have the Gaiam mat. I have the Sticky Mat, and at the time I purchased mine, the mat came with a video for at home yoga. Seems to me that I purchased mine at least 4-5 yrs. ago, and it doesn't show any signs of wear. The Sticky Mat on the Gaiam link is a bargain. I know I paid more than the price on the Gaiam link when I purchased mine on a trip to Canyon Ranch.

Netla, the first book that came to mind, though an old classic was Mary Barton: A Tale of Manchester Life by Mrs Gaskell, written in the time of those 'dark satanic mills'. Modern writers from that area include Val McDermid, popular crime writer and Jeanette Winterson Oranges are Not the Only Fruit; she has become an increasing angry lesbian so don't know about her other work. ;-( You will love both Durham and York, both small enough to easily walk around and with beautiful church and other buildings. There is The Story of Durham by Douglas Pocock which looks interesting (though pricey). The site below gives some eg's of books set in/about York. Loads of history . . . Roman, Viking, railways, chocolate-making etc. Whitby is also interesting. Look out for anything from Saint Hilda to Captain Cook . .. and Dracula! Hope this helps a bit. Thanks, both of you! After checking out the book Dian recommended I ended up ordering a subscription to Creative Keepsakes magazine. I got it on eBay for $12.99. Looks good!

You may find scrapbooking to be quite addictive. Don't forget to post pictures of your pages for us.

I subscribe to Creating Keepsakes and Simple Scrapbooks and love them both. Lots of great ideas and offer a couple of great websites, as well.

Hi, I have found a great magazine called Scrapbook Answers. Each issue comes with a great CD with a ton of fonts and ideas to download for free. The magazine itself is great but the CD makes it even better. I have found it at Walmart and Michaels.
