struggling with PSP

I have learned & remembered enough to at least do basic stuff.

I'm using PSP on a Windows 7 computer & some of it doesn't work like it should.. PSP 9 seems to do the best but I like 7 :-(

I lost all my filters & extras. I don't even know how to put shadows on things anymore. It's rough getting old :-)

I'm sure I could find some again but not sure they would work (probably would on 9) Then again I don't even remember how to install them.

Right now I'm working on Xmas & now a memorial page for one of the residents we lost a couple days ago. My 1st memorial page but afraid it won't be the last. The family is going to give me somethings to scan.

If anyone can give me any ideas to help me please do.

Hi Dar,
The type of work I do on PSP7 is simple where I don't use the filters and plugins like I think you are. Therefore I would not be of much help in that department.
I just use the 3D effects for things like the drop shadow and inner bevel when working with fonts.
I use the Tools listed on the left side of the screen a lot.
If you have a question on what you want, I may be able to help but then again may not.
Don't feel bad. I can't remember most of what I was able to do with psp and am happy I did print out some instructions to where I have to look up to see. That is if I can understand what I wrote down. "LOL"

Hello Elaine from Canada. Welcome to the best forums on the Net.I am learning PSP7 too.It is a difficult program but it is very powerful and one can do so much with it!! Besides the great things you will learn here, I would like to also direct you to the Graphics and Scanning forum . Graphics and Scanning are people who are knowledgeable pro's and those like me who are working to learn PSP7 and are sooooo, helpful. They can lead you to great tutorials and help if you get stuck. Is this where you are learning, or another online Class?? You will find people there are as nice and helpful as they are here...I have made so many wonderful friends here...like Robin...Love YA CF ...And you can not beat Tiger..she was my first helper on here !! Thanks Charlie. Another great mockup! In my next life I will be able to Photoshop! :-) I had been thinking of something like that, only off the counter. I am thinking it will feel crowded if I put much of anything there. Shermann, glad to hear from another paint-only household. I didn't have much trouble with a similar mosaic in my last kitchen, but I may have just been lucky. It was more rustic that the one I'm considering this time. It's really coming down to the balance issue for me...and maybe even more the clutter vs. serene thing. I am starting to think about some serious green (EK Chartreuse or F&B Churlish) which are anything but serene! Could be fun...and way cheaper than tile.

You mean it's like this? I am searching for an answer which I haven't found but in the process, I want to thank you for leading me to something I should have done years ago instead of struggling with hard to see white against white when making tiny fonts to place in Animation Shop! This is a very old post, but I think I know why your Filters and other elements of Photoshop disappeared. I think it is because after you installed Photoshop, you moved it (dragged it) to the desktop instead of creating an alias on the dock. This happened to us on some of our iMac computers in our high school digital classes. It took us a while to figure out that when a student complained that their Filter menu was no longer available, they had tried to move Photoshop to their desktop a la PC style setup, instead of creating an alias on their dock, and somehow this action truncated the program, rendering some of its features unusable.

The solution is to uninstall the current Photoshop and then reinstall it.
