Can This Picture be Changed to Landscape?

I'm doing a Glass Block light for my MIL. I'm putting a picture of her Grandparents on one side and I want to use this one (DH's Dad and siblings) on the back. I need this pic to be a 5" X 7" landscape. Can anyone do that. I've worked on it off and on all morning and I'm not getting anywhere with it. ): I don't care about the background,etc. as long as the Dad and kids show up!

I'm sure PhotoBucket will resize this, but I have it scanned (200dpi) and saved and could email it to someone.

The way I understand you is:
You want one picture size 5x7 that has the grandparents on the left side and this picture on the right side?
Yes it can be done but would help if the grandparents Pic was here too get the images to match each other in size.

I reread your post and find you want this picture to be a 5x7?
The only way I can think of, to keep the proportions correct is to fill the space to the sides or side with something or leave blank?
I will play with it.
I know someone will beat me to it but it will be interesting to have more than one to view here.

Thanks for responding, everyone. Ruth, how lucky you are to have a gardener next door. Neither of my neighbors was one until a young lady moved in to the house with a sunken yard this spring. She created a beautiful vegetable garden immediately after moving in. She did not know that that garden will be submerged in heavy rain. I will help her mulch and share with her my loads of manure.....something that the neighbor who moved out did not want. luckygal, I believe you are right; the end of our yard was submerged when we first moved in 28 years ago. That part next door becomes a regular lake after a heavy rain especially when the ground has not thawed in srping and the puddle gets larger every year. :-P toxcrusadr, THAT is a very creative answer. :-D Thank you for giving me a good laugh.

Kees_Lover, Thank you for sharing your landscape prints framed showing me so many different ways a picture can be framed and look nice. I really do appreciate all the helpful people on this decorating site. I am now thinking that I like my print despite how much green it has so I have to decide on a frame. I will try to take pictures tomorrow. My sofa and recliner are called taupe but to me is a leather by Natuzzi that is more on the beige taupe side and is very neutral but does not like gold frames and since I have two glass lamps with chrome bases and chrome filaments on top of the very white shades on the glass tables next to the sofa and a triangle glass table in front with the green glass edging, BM Bone White Walls, White baseboard molding and Brazilian Cherry Floors, I am wondering if a Bronze frame will go or will it clash with the sofa or the chrome? Bronze is more of a brown right? I also like a brown espresso very ornate frame but I wonder if it would be too dark. My picture if of Japanese Maple trees with dark Pine Trees and some other lighter green trees and some trees with orange and yellow but the green dominates with red the second color. There is a bridge and a green pond probably from algae. My room needs some color so bad and I wish I had chosen a dark brown or Mahogany sofa and not taupe years ago since it took me a year to buy some furniture when I bought my first home. Do you think a 40"X 30"size print would be good that will get bigger with a mat and frame for an 81" long sofa? I never bought pictures before except for the small framed prints in 2007 from JCPenney. I went there and they have no more framed prints for sale in their store.

Nicholsworth, you're right. I prefer the more natural settings, where there's not so much contrived shaping of things and controlling them. It's weird because it's like two different houses here. The front yard is like what builders create for the short term and then walk away from, but the backyard (photo below), while still a little molded into a form, is much more layered and pretty, especially once everything is in leaf and blooms. I'll be working on replacing some of the more manicured plants in the back with more natural ones that fit the space without being constantly trimmed into submission. The goal in the front will be to work with what the builder has left us and make strategic changes, like Yardvaark suggested to bring about more balance and proper sizing for spaces. The shrubbery as a groundcover is counter-productive. It'll get there over time. I don't think we're going anywhere anytime soon. Thanks again for sharing your insights and photos. You're lucky to have such a peaceful place there.

A few of my “non-pro” thoughts. For starters, I think it’s a good idea to do something with the brick, but a closeup would help. Large scale carriage lights on eith side of the garage doors & porch would look nice. The lamppost too, maybe a planter around it. I would remove the shutters on the lower two porch windows. It looks like you have a large yard ( for me anyway ), I would have existing shrubs removed & get a landscape designer to come up with a plan. Do it in stages if necessary.

If this is what you had in mind,
In PSP8, I go up to File, Print Layout, and drag it on to the sheet and it prints out at 5x7.
A person could do a fancier background but I just wanted to see what and if it could "really" be done? "lol"

Yep...that's what I had in mind!*S* I wouldn't care if some of the "greenery" was eliminated...with more focus of the people. Can that be done?

What if you made the portrait in the center and cutouts of each person enlarged on the sides? With a blurred mask around each.

Great idea,Urlee! If you want to play around with it some more..go ahead. I haven't started on the back of the block yet (the FRONT is driving me nuts..lol). From color pics I've seen of the kids, I'm betting the little boy on the left (my BIL) has on probaby blue shorts and maybe a lighter blue shirt. The little 'un on the right (my DH) would probably have on something similiar. As for my FIL....I'm thinking maybe gray pants and a white shirt. Anyway you want to do it is fine though...I'm sure my MIL doesn't remember what they all had on the day the pic was taken. (is there anyway to get that pen? pencil? line off my FIL arm and shirt?)

hey Urlee,
how about cutting the larger kids from the picture and moving them up near the adult's face level, then zooming in on just the torso of the adult, and having the people larger in the photo? that way the field is less of a detractant.
I don't have PS loaded at the moment, but it should not be too difficult.
