Comments (44)Great post.. Most of my peeves were already mentioned... I will add: Overuse of pocket doors - they can't use regular hardware so they are difficult to open and close Stacked stone used everywhere...inside and out - most of the time, it is manufactured, not real and it shows! Jack n Jill bathrooms - these just bother me especially if you have a boy and a girl....tough to decorate and "share" that space, especially with teenagers. Outdoor lighting around garages and front doors that is sooo small...off scale. Pam...See MoreMy NY Home Improvement Nightmare, & don;t know what to do.
Comments (1)Yes, you need a lawyer ASAP. You needed one to look at the contract in the beginning. I have to think that your issues are being exacerbated by your communication style. You need to take some time and clearly and concisely list exactly what the issues are. (Number that list to assist with clarity.) Then list what should have been done under the contract. Then list what changed needed to happen, and why. This will assist your lawyer and anyone else you wish to communicate your issues with. Right now, no one can make heads or tails of what you are trying to convey....See MoreSpam - don't knock it
Comments (38)Well, I suppose working up a decent sweat if it's hot outside, and washing it down with a cold beer - yeah, that's do-able. Spam is just pork. Instead of making sausage out of the weird parts, it gets thrown in with trimmings and canned. There's a high proportion of pig's ears in it; hence the gelatin. The problem I have with it is that like most traditional canned foods, it is way too high in salt. We eat out a lot, and most cooks are much younger. Many of them salt food like there's no tomorrow. I always think, "Just wait till you turn 40 and your doctor sticks you on HCTZ." LOL! I always chuckle when I think of an old Spam radio commercial. Must have been in the early 1970's when I was still in Chicago. An interviewer did a "man on the street" series where he'd ask people what Spam was made of, and then he'd hand them a can to read the label contents. One guy when asked what Spam was made of, was really flummoxed as he'd never eaten the stuff. He said, "Ummm....I dunno, never thought about it." After he read the label (aloud), he said, "Wow, I had no idea it was just pork. I guess I thought it came from something weird - a Spaminal, or something!" Made me laugh every time I heard that one play. Bring on the Spaminals!...See MoreWhat is the best material for exterior light fixtures near the ocean?
Comments (1)Hi there! Our handcrafted copper fixtures will certainly withstand the harsh salt air environment & we also offer marine grade naval brass brackets that will never rust or corrode. We've worked on hundreds of beach homes & developments around the country. A typical residential average for most of our fixtures is in the $300-$800 range - but they will never have to be replaced. We also extend trade pricing to licensed architects/builders/designers. We offer a complimentary design service and can assist with specific style and scale recommendations. Simply send over architectural drawings or photos of each space you're looking to address and I'm happy to provide some feedback that will work within your budget!
