love how it turned out! I remember that kitchen - it had a number of problems to work thru and around! but you did it! I love the stove - it looks like a deep orange on my monitor. and the sink and peninsula - wonderful. love that little platform in the corner of your sink for the faucet. I also love those pull out boards - those have got to come in handy for a number of uses. Wish I had 1 or 2 myself. And the BRASS - love it w/its patina. no matter the use of other metals in there - it doesn't matter. It 'evolved' - lol! yep, great job. Hope you are loving it! oh - and yes so happy you posted it. Great ideas for others to get from it. Not all of us can have or want to have a 50,000 $+ gut of our kitchen. I think the majority of people have to make do and change what they can when they can and if they can.

Thanks everyone. Just a tip for anyone considering using dark wax to age something after painting- cut it way down with clear wax. At one point, this dresser looked like I had coated it with mud. I had to strip off the wax and redo it. It was a painful learning experience :-)

The project is a science fiction book I am attempting to write, inspired by The Martian. Growing food in an artificial habitat, kind of thing. Up to know, I've read several pages online including culinate.com and bonnieplants.com (to name two) which have helped me gather information about the easier and more "efficient" vegetable to grow in small spaces that also produce relatively high yields of fruit/vegetables (which I was referring to. Apologies for not specifying). So far I've concluded that Tomatoes and leafy vegetables (such as Cabbage and Kale) are among the best options for what I need. However, although I can find plenty of information on the fruit/vegetables yields of a fruit/vegetable plants, I haven't found anything on how well fruit/vegetable plants produce oxygen. If you still need more information, obviously let me know.

I think everyone agonizes over their choices. Maybe you can post photos of the space, the color stain you are using on the cabinets and put it all up together in the room, then you'll get more commenters Otherwise, I do like the floor color...light and bright. You're doing rugs anyways (I'd assume), so the subtleness of the floor is great. I have real dark walnut stained wood floors, and while they are gorgeous, you see every spec of dust, cat hair, foot smudges in the light, etc. I'll be going lighter next time.
