Comments (5)I also think that maybe there is just a slump in craft postings lately. the Garden Web Junk and trash to treasure seems to be doing ok. Maybe we could ask the other boards to come over here and post; the clay, computer crafts, doll making etc. If we started a thread like BEADS; wire work, or CLAY, do you fire? or something like that it would save reading through a lot of threads just to know what the subject is. A Sample thread title like that would be "Does anyone know?" that way maybe we could save the inactive boards from possible removal from lack of postings....See MorePaint technique questions for bead board
Comments (4)Here is something to think about before you paint the bead board. I assume you are talking about tongue and groove bead board. When you paint the raw wood, it will swell from the moisture and add thickness to the tongue. When the carpenters install it, it will not go together as well as it should. If you prime it, don't get paint in the groove or on the tongue. Your carpenter will not like this. Definitely do not use flat on bead board. Use satin or eggshell....See MoreQuestion for those with painted cabinets
Comments (11)I used to live in an apartment with old white painted cabinets. The insides were painted white -- probably always had been. I moved into a house with really ugly formica/melamine cabinets. I painted the outsides green and took the doors off. They looked terrible until I painted the insides green too. You don't say what color yours are painted, but I like a cabinet painted on the inside. In the case of white, the light background makes things easy to find. If you're dealing with another color, painting the insides a contrasting color, or, as borngrace did, painting just the back and leaving the rest wood can look spectacular. I have even found old cabinets lined with wallpaper. There are really a lot of choices. It depends on what your style is....See MoreBest saw to use for installing bead board?
Comments (7)Goodness! Have 2 years gone by already!? I'm popping back to say "Thanks!" to the folks on this forum and others for their help. We succeeded in completing our renovation as we had envisioned. Here is a link to one of the Yahoo! photo albums I put together of our cottage renovation. It shows the steps we took when installing beadboard as a replacement for the ugly tile in our 1946 cottage kitchen.
