Can you dye bath rugs?
Comments (9)DM just dyed her bath towels and bath rug a beautiful deep purple. She used Rit Dye and they came out great. I mean they look brand spanking new. In fact, some of the bath towels she dyed were decorative towels that had some lacey trim and the lace came up a teeny bit lighter which looks so nice on the deep purple. golddust - why not Rit? Geez, I hope she's not made some major mistake that she can't undo? DM's towels and bath mat were pale yellow and she wanted to change things up a bit. Had the Rit in the house and used it....See MoreRubber backing on scatter rug harm wood floor
Comments (3)It is never recommended to put an area rug with a rubber backing onto hardwood flooring. Most manufacturers state that you should only put a rug that is "breathable" on top of a wood floor. Sometime moisture will get under the rug and if it cant breathe that moisture will continue to sit on top of the hardwood floor causing damage....See MoreNot supposed to use rubber backed rugs - so what do I use?
Comments (27)I've never had any problem with tile but would not use on wood. I moved into a house once where the finish on the wood floor in front of the sink had been damaged by a rug. I currently have some rubber backed rugs on the vinyl flooring in my laundry/back entry but it's not a color that you'd ever notice discoloring plus it will always have some kind of rug there. I always get the thicker area rug type rugs that have the woven back for places that I don't want rubber backing. I don't care for the thinner rugs with no backing because they don't stay flat and are a tripping hazard. I get a color that doesn't show every little thing and get them professionally cleaned once in a while....See MoreRubber backed rugs on hardwood flooring?
Comments (1)I think I read that rubber backed is a no no for hardwood floors as well, but there is supposed to be some sort of non slip pad you can put under rugs to keep them from sliding. I'm sure someone with more knowledge will respond. I need to find out too as we just installed red oak hardwood in our kitchen remodel, still in progress....See Moremikie_gw
